The board of education for the South Pasadena School District is getting into the development business, moving forward with a mixed-user on a surface parking lot they own on Mission Street. The Board approved designs for Mission Place, which is coming together with help from California-based Legacy Partners. The school district hopes to leverage the development, which still needs to go through the permitting and entitlement process, for some revenue for their schools. Mission Place would include 90 units spread among three floors, with a pedestrian walkway cutting through the development and a bunch of retail fronting charming Mission Street, just a block from a Gold Line station. Timelines are murky, but the project probably won't wrap until 2018.
