Bruce Springsteen generally communicates with his fans via his music and his performances; he’s not one to post too often on his website or social media. But this week, he took to his official site to post a thank you letter to fans, and also a new music video, which served a similar purpose.
“To all the tramps and travelers who exposed themselves night after night to the long flights, the long drives, the long queuing, the rain… we appreciate it.” He also thanked the “‘creative’ request sign makers,” “the families who showed up (with) all generations represented” and notably, “our young fans, the newest members of our E Street clan, who brought their life, vitality, fresh energy and who immersed themselves in 40 years of music, we thank and welcome you. You’re our future.”
Bruce also posted a video of his cover of Suicide’s “Dream Baby Dream,” which features a montage of concert footage, both of fans and Springsteen and the band.
Springsteen previously covered the song on his solo acoustic tour for 2005′s Devils And Dust, and in 2008, released it as a limited edition EP. The version heard in this video is more orchestrated and sounds like it was produced during the sessions for Wrecking Ball.
Up next for Springsteen is a one-off solo performance at New York Beacon Theatre at the annual Stand Up For Heroes event on November 6. Next year, the E Street Band returns to the road for a string of dates in Australia and New Zealand starting in February.
