We have a Renaissance Festival, a beer fest (we seem to have a beer fest every weekend and I’m not complaining) the final weekend of Coachella, the Lakeside Rodeo and lots more. The weather will be great as usual. Let’s enjoy.

Passover

Passover Not only is today Earth Day, it’s also the beginning  of Passover. It begins tonight at Sundown which is at 7:24

Coachella Weekend 2 Coachella, a place we go to take selfies. And if a total stranger hands you something mysterious and says, “Here, try this”, you might want to say “NO”!!!

52nd Annual Lakeside Rodeo
(Friday through Sunday, Lakeside Rodeo Grounds (12584 Mapleview St.)
The 52nd annual Lakeside Rodeo rides again with thrilling moments in the arena, plus a parade, the Miss Rodeo Lakeside pageant and other activities. The rodeo – Lakeside’s biggest community event of the year – features four performances: 7:30 p.m. Friday; 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; 2 p.m. Sunday. Each performance includes classic rodeo acts like saddle bronco riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, roping, barrel racing and kids stick horse racing.

Crossover: Where Comics and Science Meet
(6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., San Diego Comic Art Gallery at Liberty Station)
IDW Publishing and the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center join forces for a four-part event series at the San Diego Comic Art Gallery (2765 Truxtun Rd.) at Liberty Station that examines the art, science and technology featured in popular comic books. This series, which is for the 21+ crowd, includes discussions with comic book artists, writers and local scientists who will address the creative and scientific sides of comics. Attendees can sip on local brews while geeking out, too. This first event in the series will focus on “Transformers,” “Rom” “Micronauts” and the “Science of Robotics.”

Pajamarama Storytime With Mrs. Beverley
(7:30 p.m., Barnes & Noble at Santee Trolley Square)
Grab the kids and read a story at this weekly gathering at the Barnes & Noble store located at 9938 Mission Gorge Rd. A woman known simply as “Mrs. Beverley” leads this all-ages “Pajamarama Storytime” each Friday at 7:30 p.m. as kids giggle, dance and play their way through fun, new books. The event is free.

Gem Faire & Jewelry Show
(Times vary (Friday through Sunday, Scottish Rite Events Center)
More than 100 exhibitors will showcase their best gems, stones and jewelry at this three-day show at the Scottish Rite Events Center. A weekend pass is just $7; children 12 and under get in free. The show runs from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Walk MS Point loma  Walk MS at NTC Park in Point Loma this Saturday, 4/23 from 8a-12p!  Walk MS is a charity walk series that take place in over 550 locations with more than 330,000 people participating annually.

Renaissance Faire & Pirates in the Park! Travel back to a time when fair damsels and gentlemen bathed once a year. Hey, if everybody stinks who’ll know. This is a great time for all ages.

Linda Vista Multi-Cultural Fair & Parade
(10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 6900 Linda Vista Rd.)
This is going to take place just down the road from KyXy. More than 10,000 attendees are expected to gather for this multi-cultural event, which highlights the diversity of the Linda Vista community, which is home to more than 22 different dialects of languages. This year’s free, family-friendly fair will also celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Linda Vista community as a whole. The fun goes down on Linda Vista Road, between Comstock and Ulric streets, and includes culturally-diverse, live entertainment across three stages including singers, dancers and instrumentalists. There’s also a zone for children’s activities and an area dubbed the World Arts Village, which features artisans and hands-on demonstrations.

San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus: California Dreamin’
(8 p.m. Saturday & 3 p.m. Sunday, Balboa Theatre)
The San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus takes on California classics with this show sprinkled with every happy tune under the sun – from Tony Bennett and Brian Wilson to Katy Perry and every soul that ever hit SoCal. More than 160 Californians make up the chorus. There’s a show at 8 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The Wizard of Oz by Broadway Theatre Arts Academy
(2 p.m. & 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. & 6 p.m. Sunday, California Center for the Arts Escondido)
The Broadway Theatre Arts Academy presents its production of the classic, “The Wizard of Oz,” with four shows at the Center Theater at the California Center for the Arts Escondido. Tickets are between $16 and $19.

Festival of Beers
(1 p.m., Lafayette Hotel on El Cajon Boulevard)
Enjoy two of the things that make San Diego, San Diego: good craft beer and good music. The two come together at this bustling local beer festival, where local brewers and local bands come together at this festival. The event, which benefits the El Cajon Boulevard Business Improvement Association, helps keep participatory music programs active in the community. Tickets start at $45 for general admission.

Del Mar National Horse Show
(April 23-May 7, Del Mar Fairgrounds)
This two-week horse show features world-class competition among more than 250 internationally recognized horses and riders. This first week is “Welcome Week,” with plenty of action and activities. The prestigious event runs through May 7, where competitors will vie for a $100,000 grand prix prize.

Spring Street Faire
(9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, Downtown Encinitas)
Walk down six blocks of the scenic South Coast Highway 101, the perfect way to welcome Spring in this lovely North County neighborhood. More than 100,000 people come out annually for this faire, which brings together more than 450 international food vendors, children’s rides, and craft vendors. Plus, enjoy live stages and a craft brewery beer garden. There is no admission for the festival.

Earth Day on the Bay
(10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Maritime Museum of San Diego)
A free event, Earth Day on the Bay runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday around the Maritime Museum of San Diego at the scenic San Diego Bay. During the event, attendees can visit the Maritime Museum free of charge and, for a small fee, go on a short bay cruise led by naturalists who will discuss marine life and our environment. Food vendors and other fun activities will round-out this outing.

Salk Institute’s Salk Science and Music Series
(4 p.m., Conrad Prebys Auditorium) Science and music may not be a natural combination, but the Salk Institute brings together a beautiful blend of the two for their annual Science and Music Series. Renowned classical and jazz musicians meet riveting talks about cutting edge science and technology at the institute. The series continues with this week’s performance, “Be Amazed and Inspired”. Admission costs $45, or $250 for the full series.
