AUSTIN (KXAN) — In a couple of weeks you can take part in an annual holiday tradition and provide comfort for families with children in the hospital.

Carolyn Schwarz with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas joined us in the KXAN studio to discuss the Lights of Love event.

Ronald McDonald House provides housing for families when their children are in the hospital and seriously ill. This year they are bringing back the tradition of “buying a light” for $20 to honor loved ones and to support sick children and their families.

The goal is to “be the light” for local families and help light up the Mueller Lake trail with your own personal light sign.

“Friends, family and even four-legged companions will enjoy an evening of traditional holiday fun including; a walk along the Mueller Lake adorned with holiday lights, a visit with Santa Claus, a snow slide, gingerbread house decorating, kids’ crafts, hot chocolate, photo booth, holiday music and much more under the Hangar,” said Schwarz.

The Lights of Love events kicks off at the Browning Hanger at Meuller on Friday Dec. 2 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
