The members of the Woman’s Club of Big Bear Lake are responsible for such historic feats as starting the first Big Bear Valley library and purchasing the first fire wagon in the area. The ladies also knit lap blankets for VA Loma Linda Healthcare patients; contribute two scholarships to Big Bear High School and one to Chautauqua High School each year; aid Ronald McDonald House Charities, Pennies for Pines and the local therapeutic horsemanship organization EQUU8.

The organization was started in 1922 by a small group of women to be a social outlet. In 1923, the organization joined the California Federation of Woman’s Clubs and began its legacy of uniting women for self-improvement and giving service to the community.
