MARIETTA, GA –—(Marketwired – January 29, 2016) – Atlanta West Dentistry, a comprehensive family dental office, has implemented new dental technology to promote fast healing after extractions and dental implant placement.

Atlanta West Dentistry's Dr. Travis Watson and Dr. Lauren Bowersox are implant dentists in Marietta who are constantly looking at ways to make the dental implant process more efficient and more comfortable for patients. The new Platelet–Rich Fibrin (PRF) technology is proven to speed up healing, minimize or eliminate post–operative discomfort and improve on lifetime success rates.

PRF technology uses a medical centrifuge – spinning the patient's own blood – to compact the platelets and healing factors into a clot for immediate healing. This prevents any open wounds in the mouth, which trap food and can be painful.

“We use this for not only implant surgery but also for facilitating healing after tooth extractions, specifically wisdom teeth extractions,” Dr. Watson said. “Patients are amazed at how little pain they have the next day and the fact that they leave the office not having to bite down on gauze. This is because the bleeding stops instantly once the PRF clot is applied to the surgical site.”

PRF technology was discovered in France five years ago and is used by only a handful of dentists in the United States. Dr. Watson said the dental team at Atlanta West Dentistry has already received great results with the PRF system, adding that patients are less apprehensive about treatment when they know they will have a quick recovery.

“We are very excited to add PRF technology to our office. It has already proven to be a huge asset for our ability to help patients get dental surgery performed and heal quickly with very little pain,” Dr. Watson said. “This is essentially what our mission is, which is to make the dental process easy, non–stressful and without pain.”

Atlanta West Dentistry, 1808 Powder Springs Rd. SW, is a state–of–the–art office built in 2013. The practice provides all phases of dentistry, including preventive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, restorative dentistry, sedation dentistry and dental implants. Dr. Travis Watson and Dr. Cameron Watson use the latest techniques and technology to provide thorough and compassionate dental care to all their patients.

The Atlanta dental practice offers the cosmetic solution Invisalign, which uses clear aligners to gradually move teeth into a more appropriate position; dental implants to replace single missing teeth and entire arches of missing teeth; laser dentistry to treat patients with gum disease; and comfortable digital impressions. The staff also uses a handheld device known as The Wand, which delivers local anesthesia without pain.
