I have noticed that some people get upset when my predictions go wrong and therefore, they write bad comments on my posts. This is incorrect and not in the spirit of this game.

I had written a post during IPL 7 in order to clarify to the readers the logic and purpose of predicting matches. I thought it prudent to reproduce the same post now during IPL 8 for the benefit of my readers. I am sure they are thoroughly enjoying close contest of IPL 8.

Many websites may be predicting match results and writing reviews/previews of all matches. The predictions may not be true always. This has to be understood by the intelligent, well read cricket fans.

Let me clarify the purpose and logic of my predicting the matches.

I have played good cricket all my life and simply love this game. Cricket is my passion and thus, is priority 1 in my life. I religiously study a player’s batting/bowling style (including technical flaws) and then analyse the combined potential of a team vis a vis it’s opponent based on some individual statistical data of this IPL in addition to earlier IPLs. That generates a pattern of performance and gives me an idea about how the players are likely to deliver.

Therefore, i am merely making an assessment of likely outcome of a match/ players’s performance utilizing my experience of many years. It is only for my satisfaction and i wish to see for myself as to how have i faired in studying the game pattern of teams using my logic. There is no yard stick to label a winning or a losing team.

The results of the polls being conducted by me indicate that a large percentage of people agree with my predictions. At times, the predictions do not come true. The reasons could be any of the following:-

Player losing form.

Player getting out due to another team mates’s fault.

A bowler bowls exceptionally well.

Poor bowling in last one or two overs.

Spectacular catches being held to dismiss a player in form.

Simple catches dropped.

pressure situations affecting output of players.

Players regaining sudden form.

Run outs and stumpings- feats.

Poor fielding.

Sudden collapse of few batsmen and so on.

No one has control over above variants. These change the course of a game in a few moments.

However, i gather from comments on posts that some of the readers are involved in betting based on my predictions. That is not advocated by me under any circumstances. I an not an astrologer. Betting is illegal and should not be resorted to. Those who suffer loss in betting tend to use abusive and discourteous language and blame me for their loss. That is ridiculous. Such people should go to Pandits and astrologers for results of a match.

People must appreciate my point of view in analyzing the matches. It is my past time, hobby, passion and is no way aimed at helping people to involve themselves in to gambling or betting.

My blog posts are meant for cricket lovers only who wish to enjoy the game.

Good luck and happy reading.

May the best team win.

Let me have your views on my post.
