Welcome to week 8 of our Beautiful, Healthy You blog series!
So far we’ve covered a variety of women’s health topics and issues and there’s more in store for this month, so stay tuned!
Today, we’re tackling the topic of hair!
In this post, I’m going to share
a few Biblical principles regarding women’s hair
styles for short and long, straight and curly hair
natural hair products and recipes
a round-up of fantastic “hair” links from other bloggers
Here we go!
What does the Bible say about women’s hair?
This can be a touchy topic! I’m not going to get into the nitty gritty stuff, but here are a few principles we find in God’s Word regarding women’s hair:
It is a her glory (I Corinthians 15:11; in the original Greek, magnificence, excellence, preeminence, dignity, grace).
It is her covering (I Corinthians 15:11; or a veil).
But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
I Corinthians 11:15
I believe the Biblical principle of a woman’s hair is that it is to distinguish her from a man, and to be an outward sign of inner submission and femininity.
Personally, I prefer long hair and feminine hair styles (my husband does too!).
I also believe that hair style and length is a personal preference and/or a personal conviction. There is freedom in Christ to apply His Word and His principles in accordance to how the Holy Spirit leads you.
Feminine Hair Styles
Hair can look feminine in many lengths and styles…
A pretty “do” for shoulder-length hair from The Small Things Blog. (I love braids!)
A simple but pretty up-do from the same blog.
I’m very partial to buns! This side-sweep “knotted bun” is super casual but feminine.
I love, love, love the curly do’s from Mandy at Biblical Homemaking! This girl has naturally curly hair and she always looks so lovely.
On a personal note, most days you’ll find my hair fixed something like this-
