"A tree becomes a book becomes a tree", is the philosophy behind designer Shawn Soh's Tree Bookshelf, which inspired our latest product, the Wisdom Tree. Although the original piece is made in steel, we ventured to make the same using bamboo. Lightweight and environment friendly, bamboo makes for a wiser alternative to the more commonly used wood. Bamboo happens to be the fastest reproducible raw material, making it easier to give back what we have taken from nature.
So why the Wisdom Tree? Remember that wishful money tree which would shower wads of cash and bags of coins into your lap when shaken? Think of our Wisdom Tree as the wisdom equivalent of that tree! Imagine a tree which would make you enlightened and erudite each time you take down a book from it, peruse it, and replace it back on the tree. In short, a tree that will make you wise. That is exactly what our Wisdom Tree stands for.
Trendy, quirky and unique, the Wisdom Tree has been designed for holding about 50 books, simplifying space utilization. The Wisdom Tree has also been painted a classier green making it aesthetically more appealing than traditional bamboo. We have also thoughtfully enhanced the balance and sturdiness of the Wisdom Tree to make it better equipped to hold all your books and so much more.
The Wisdom Tree is handmade, and the process is intricate and time-consuming. Starting from scratch to finished, the making of the Wisdom Tree takes the better part of a month. To ensure that finished product is well-balanced and blemish free, extreme care is taken during the making of the building blocks (the bamboo strips) and assembling the base, and particularly during the painting of the Wisdom Tree so that the paint doesn't chip anytime in the future. Tricky business? You bet!
