Put your heart, mind, and soul into even your smallest acts. This is the secret of success.

Swami Sivananda

What does success mean to you?

If you ask most people, success is often defined by something tangible: money, a large house, fancy cars, etc.

To some extent, I suppose this holds true with myself though I try not to focus on the material things. Success, to me, means that my family is taken care of. That we are comfortable within our means. That we are not wanting.

However, in order to achieve any level of success; I need to plan. I like to plan. Sometimes I’m not always great with the follow through, but I love to plan. I tend to follow a similar system from year to year and here’s how I’m planning for a successful 2017.

This past year has been up and down for me in terms of monetary success. Towards the middle of the year, however, I started to see a more a steady pattern. In fact, as far back as March, I was making $1000 (or more) every month through December. While this may not seem like a lot, and in reality it isn’t, it was still a success compared to last year.

Looking back at how this year has gone and how the previous year went are also how I start planning for next year. I love to analyze these things and it helps when it comes to setting my goals.

Planning for Success in the Next Year

I may have mentioned, at some point, that I am also a bit of a planner junkie. I buy planners with the full intent of using them, but that doesn’t always pan out how I’d like. This year, however, I’m attempting to simplify a little. For day to day family things, I will be using a 2017-2018 Monthly Peanuts planner. And for daily inspiration, I have the matching Peanuts Smiles and Blessings Perpetual Calendar.

For my business planning, I will be using the Conquer Your Year Planner, The Conquer Kit, and the Be Purposeful Daily Action Planner from Boss Moms.

I will also admit- normally I like to plan in pencil. But for some things, I use Stabilo Point 88 pens. They’re pretty and I they don’t bleed through the paper. I can also use them in my Introvert Dreams coloring book when I need a break from planning.

To set myself up for 2017, I printed out two overview calendars from Calenderpedia. After crossing out the weekends because those are definitely when I take time off; I sketched out my year. I use one calendar to plan for the blog and one calendar to plan for products.

Then, using the Conquer Your Year planner, I can further define and set up my business.

We’ll see how this system works. I’m hoping that it’s organized enough but also flexible enough that I won’t get frustrated with it. But this is how I’m planning for success in 2017.

Do you use a paper planner or a digital planner?
