10 Best-Dressed Kdrama Female Characters of 2014

The end of 2014 is almost upon us. We at Korean Drama Fashion couldn’t think of a better way to say goodbye to this amazing year than to cull a best-dressed list. We’re only taking the dramas we’ve featured. Fashion and style are a part and parcel of Korean dramas so you guys can probably list down more than dozen of well-dressed ladies in the multitude of the dramas you’ve watched this year. If you can think of more stylish female leads who should make it to this list though, feel free to write your comments after the article.

10. Krystal Jung as Yoon Se Na (My Lovely Girl)

At number 10 is My Lovely Girl’s Yoon Se Na. In real life, the actress who portrayed her, Krystal Jung, is a fashion icon. While I loved her fashion more in The Heirs, Krystal’s character in this drama, Yoon Se Na is fashionable in her own way.

She has legs for days so skinny jeans and A-line mini skirts are her particular forte. She usually caps it off with a cute cropped jacket that I wouldn’t mind having in my closet. And since this started as a summer drama, she sported a lot of gingham prints and preppy-inspired dresses! You’ll also get a lot of Alexa Chung vibes from her outfits.

9. Jang Na Ra as Kim Mi Young (Fated to Love You)

Kim Mi Young is your typical goody-two-shoed female character who everyone takes advantage of. Jang Na Ra portrays this character with aplomb. Her wardrobe probably doesn’t come off as strong as the other female leads but if your aesthetic leans more towards sweet, feminine and frilly pieces, Kim Mi Young is your style animal. She wore a lot of midi skirts in this drama so there’s no shortage of vintage-inspired outfits here.

8. Yoo In Na as Nam Sang Hyo (My Secret Hotel)

Okay, we only managed to put up two episodes of this drama in this site but we definitely hang on until the last episode. We just had to know who the killer was! And then there’s also Nam Sang Hyo’s super chic wardrobe.

Yoo In Na almost always has a great wardrobe in her dramas – Queen and I, Lee Soon Shin is the Best, even My Love From The Stars. But what makes My Secret Hotel a cut above the rest of her dramas is her superbly polished style. Like you couldn’t even find a stray hair or a shirt undone in every episode! Everything is spot-on. She wore a lot of high-waisted trousers and chic, loose blouses in this drama.

7. Im Yoo Na as Nam Da Jung (Prime Minister and I)

Yoo Na took on the role of Nam Da Jung – a tabloid reporter turned Prime Minister’s wife. Her wardrobe had a remarkable transition when she married the Prime Minister so she switched from wearing heavily distressed jeans to dainty coat dresses and pastel frocks as befitted her newfound status.

6. Lee Min Jung as Na Ae Ra (Cunning Single Lady)

This was a spring drama so there was an abundance of pastel colors and fun prints. I’ve also tried to emulate Ae Ra’s messy, mermaid hair here. She doesn’t hesitate in wearing uber short shorts (even for work!) and keeps her outfits interesting with a beautiful jacket.

5. Lee Da Hae as Ah Mo Ne (Hotel King)

Mo Ne, the spoiled heiress turned hotel CEO. This drama was super intense and I would have given up on it if not for Mo Ne’s covetable wardrobe. I loved her style in the beginning of the drama, when she still experimented with layers and lengths. Her CEO outfits were stylish too but not as fun and quirky as the first few episodes.

4. Gong Hyo Jin as Ji Hae Soo (It’s Okay, That’s Love)

Laid-back and unassuming. These are two words to describe Ji Hae Soo’s style. She wears her shorts inside out and can go out of the house in nothing but a flimsy maxi on a rainy day. But here’s the thing – her style out of their two-floored abode is so edgy and chic, she made it to this spot.

She’s a trend-setter and I’d bet my two cents the high-waisted bootleg pants style she wore in this drama is going to be a huge trend in the next few months. But my favorite? That Comme des Garcons Open Back dress that she wore with fringed oxfords.

3. Choi Ji Woo as Yoo Se Young (Temptation)

Yoo Se Young was a successful woman failing miserably at other parts of her life. I don’t envy her success but I definitely wouldn’t mind being besties with her if she will share her awesome closet filled with designer clothes with me!

You’ll find a lot of the fashion heavy guns in her wardrobe – Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs, you name it, she has it!

2. Han Ye Seul as Sara/Sa Geum Ran (Birth of a Beauty)

Han Ye Seul’s character, Sara, started as Sa Geum Ran, an overweight ahjumma who got cheated on by her young husband. So she went under the knife and turned into beautiful Sara to see revenge. And with this transformation came her newfound taste in clothes.

Sara was a walking Saint Laurent advertisement in this drama! An episode isn’t complete without her donning something from this fashion power house. You’ll want to raid her closet if only to get your hands on her dresses.

1. Jun Ji Hyun as Cheon Song Yi (You Who Came From The Stars/ My Love From The Stars)

Are you guys even surprised Jun Ji Hyun bagged the first spot in this list? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – she’s hands-down the best-dressed Kdrama female to date, bar none.

As a privileged actress, Cheon Song Yi owns the latest clothes, shoes, bags, accessories and make-up. If you’re decked out in S/S and Resort collections already before they even hit the stores, it’s a clue that you’re a fashion darling, isn’t it?

Every brand you can think of, Lanvin, Dolce & Gabbana, Saint Laurent, Versace, Gucci, Givenchy, Chloe, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton – the big guns, and even the brands you haven’t heard of yet, she has it. In fact, she’s decked out in Chanel even when the said clothing only has a few seconds of exposure in the drama. Heol!

Cheon Song Yi’s Best Looks: (Tempted to put everything here but we’re narrowing it down to these outfits)
