Since the Sewol Ferry Tragedy, various Korean celebrities have shown their support by donating money for the incessant search for the missing victims. Their generosity concludes as a big help to conduct more rescue operations during these times of grief. Korean celebrities Ha Ji Won, Cha Seung Won, Song Seung Hun and Olympic figure skater Kim Yuna, were reported to have each donated 100 million won ($100,000) for the cause.

Kim Yuna posted on her twitter, “I’m wholeheartedly praying for a miracle”, showing her grief for the victims of the tragedy.

On April 21, the Korean Committee for UNICEF praised Kim Yuna for her generosity and charitable contribution, “Kim Yuna, as the UNICEF’s national ambassador, showed her generosity and shared her grief and pain for what has happened in the Sewol Tragedy by donating 100 million won to the Korean Committee for UNICEF.”

Meanwhile, Kim Yuna was at Mapo-gu Seoul on April 17 for an event but decided to postpone it when she heard about the Sewol Tragedy.

Ha Ji Won’s agency reported that the actress felt devastated and upset when she heard the news about the Sewol Ferry Tragedy, especially when the big number of victims was mostly children.

The agency commented, “Ha Ji Won was even more hurt and devastated when she heard that most of the victims in the tragedy were children, very young people.”

On the other hand, other Korean celebrities such as Song Seung Hun, On Joo Wan, Park Jae Min, Jung Il Woo, Kim Bo Song, Joo Sang Wook, Jang Mi In, LA Dodgers pitcher Ryu Hyun Jin, Oh Yeon Seo, Park Shin Hye, Kim Soo Hyun and MBLAQ’s Lee Joon also donated money to show their support and share their grief for the victims of the Sewol Ferry Tragedy.
