Two new dramas have opened this week. MBC’s Wednesday-Thursday drama A New Leaf is about a lawyer (Kim Myung Min) who loses his memory due to an accident and looks back to his life but then goes up against the huge law firm he previously worked for. KBS2’s Monday-Tuesday drama Big Man is about an orphan, Kim Ji Hyuk (Kang ji Hwan), who has lived his whole life alone in hardship until he grows up. He then finds out that a different life is destined to him as he knew that he’s the son of a rich family who owns a top company in Korea. Consequences, trials and romance unveil as he discovers the real motives of the people behind the company.

<A New Leaf> Actor Kim Myung Min will take the lead role for this new drama on MBC. He’ll play as Kim Seok Joo, a very intelligent and outstanding lawyer who would undergo different methods, either by foul or fair play, just to win his cases. Kim Myung Min starred in 2012 SBS drama The Lord of Dramas and 2008 MBC drama Beethoven Virus. Though he will play a different role in this drama, the actor’s charisma doesn’t seem to phase out of time.

<Big Man> Actor Kang Ji Hwan plays as Kim Ji Hyuk, an orphan who has his life twisted when he discovers that he’s the son of a rich family. He then will pursue and defend for something’s right to protect the his family’s company. Kang Ji Hwan will have a major transformation for this drama. But the actor’s been known with his commendable acting skills especially in his 2013 SBS drama Incarnation of Money. His role in this new drama Big Man will surely emphasize his incredible acting skills.

Meanwhile, actor Kim Kang Woo takes the lead role in the ongoing KBS drama Golden Cross. Kim Kang Woo’s character in the drama has also been compared to Kang Ji Hwan and Kim Myung Min’s character in their respective dramas. Kim Kang Woo’s portrayal in the Korean drama Haeundae Lovers had been noticed and commended. Despite their differences in characters, they are recognized with their own skills in acting as they fully immerse with their portrayals.

These three dramas have something in common. First of all, the lead character is a male actor. Secondly, the heroic appearance of each actor stands out and their chemistry with their lead actresses fits perfectly. These three fine works do imply the elements of a melodrama showing that each lead actor seems to have undergone great struggles in life.

Each character in the drama has their turning points in life. Their fate astoundingly goes the other way around giving them another side of life, the obstacles and the consequences they need to face.
