Still Writing Linkedin Recommendations? No. Then You Should Be!

People say that Linkedin recommendations don’t mean anything, but I believe it depends upon who is writing the recommendation and how the recommendation is written. Another difference would be how active that the person being recommended is active in social media networking. Essentially, your LinkedIn profile should be used as a calling card or your online expanded professional reference. Here are a few examples of what I had to say about some people in my own professional LinkedIn network.

Carla Deter

Virtual Assistant/Owner/Blogger/Guest Author

Carla Deter was brought on to my KnoGimmicks.com (now referred to as “Living The Digital Media Artist Lyfestyle”) site a few months ago as a content manager (author) and even after she has moved on in her own social media consulting, her articles are still gaining some major traction on the site. Her ability to understand different industries and take a Social Media for Business perspective in those different industries has truly amazed more than 3,000+ subscribers (not to include my vast network of 4.7K Linkedin connections and 1.3k Twitter network). Carla’s ability to recognize different Social Bookmarking sites such as Scoop.it! or Reddit as marketing tools and her unique knack to captivate Google Plus groups with knowledgeable, consistent content while using White Hat SEO strategies helped to propel KnoGimmicks.com forward in its overall marketing efforts. As a career professional in Digital Media Design, Engineering and in Authorship myself, I highly recommend Carla Deter not only because of her natural instinct in online social situations to capitilize on unforeseen opportunities, but also because she understands that it takes hard work to create high quality content.

Lisa Kocourek

Career Counselor

Lisa Kocourek enthusiastically led me and another group of college students/interns in the Co-op Program at the College of Lake County Grayslake Campus. Her session was highly informative regarding the usage of Linkedin as a college student. She took us through the entire Linkedin profile while explaining the specifics on each individual line item. Lisa was very engaging in her facilitative delivery and she also took the necessary time to answer all of our questions in great detail. Her vast knowledge as a counselor and as a professional online networker proved to be extremely valuable in the aspect of job hunting. I highly recommend Lisa Kocourek to facilitate any type of Linkedin training sessions in the future, regardless of the audience’s level of experience!

Carolyn Serdar

Cooperative Education and Service Learning Coordinator

Carolyn has helped me on numerous occasions as a student and job seeker to locate multiple internship employment opportunities. She is well-connected and always maintains positive relationships with partnering College of Lake County companies. Her in-depth knowledge of ONET and other online avenues of job seeking such as College Central Network shows that her expertise is very rare. Carolyn always approaches every potential candidate with the perfect job requisitions to suit applicant skills. I highly recommend her as one of the instructors and counselors to definitely seek out when you are searching for the perfect job opportunity. The best quality about Carolyn is that she always meets and greets you with a smile no matter how stressful or deeply buried in paperwork that she is.

Jim Beaudry

Managing Director

Jim Beaudry strategically recommended me for a Linkedin training position at Comcast Cable which is working out above my expectations! He was highly responsive through email, Linkedin messaging and our brief phone conversation touching bases about the job requirements. Jim is definitely a people connector and he recognizes the skills of professionals that are excellent fits for job descriptions. You can tell that he has the experience in doing what he does as a Manager Director because the transition and the hand-off was exceptionally smooth. I highly recommend going through Jim Beaudry if you are a job-seeker searching for a new opportunity in a very difficult job market. The guy just gets you the results!

Jessie Yarborough

Quality Assurrance Representative

Jessie Yarborough is one of the top independent business consultants in the Columbia, South Carolina area with 15+ years of expertise. Her in-depth, all-encompassing knowledge in constructing business plans while providing key-industry specific consultation makes her adaptable to all current markets. Even during the economical downturn Mrs. Yarborough has the “eagle-eyed” vision, that is currently a necessity in today’s competitive market, in recognizing entrepreneurial opportunities to include understanding the legal requirements of starting particular businesses, connecting entrepreneurs with the subject matter experts that they need, and furthering the development of marketing strategies to help move companies forward. Jessie also has immediate access to the resources that entrepreneurs require in order to be successful in pitching a product or service, performing the necessary market research and seeking out venture capitalists or potential investors. I STRONGLY recommend her for consultation if you are starting a new business (with or without a business plan) or if your business currently requires a strategic plan to discover a new market niche.

The trials and tribulations that she has been through indeed has made her stronger as person, a leader, and a follower of Christ. She is a strong woman with deep family roots out of South Carolina from a large family. She is a mother, a grandmother and an involved community leader.
