The recently released (fresh off the internet presses yesterday!) Fall with SweetGeorgia Vol. 2 collection contains 12 patterns: 3 cardigans, two shawls, one cowl, one scarf, one wrap, one hat & cowl set, one pullover, and one fingerless mitts pattern. You can purchase patterns individually, or the whole eBook collection via their website here or Ravelry here. I’ve long been a fan of Sweet Georgia’s amazing colour collections, and their pattern collections always feature brightly coloured knits. If you prefer your knits more muted, they also have a wide range of colours for those of us that sometimes prefer colour on the darker or softer side.
Here are my top picks from this collection!
Amara, by Linda Marveng
Amara is a wonderfully cabled DK weight cardigan knit from the bottom up. The back is particularly lovely, so I recommend checking out all the photos. Although the length is a bit odd to me, I personally feel that making this about 4 inches longer would make this a knockout. Cables are both written and charted, none of the cables involve more than 6 stitches total.
You Should Totally Knit This If: You love cables. I mean, really love cables.
You Should Definitely Not Knit This If: ‘At the same time’ instructions are your kryptonite. The phrase is mentioned 6 times in the pattern.
Edale, by Corrina Ferguson
A gorgeous fingering weight shawl that takes two skeins of fingering to give it the great size you see in the photo, and allow you to wrap it a bit more than your typical shawl. Patterns is fully written out as well as charted, and is full lace- meaning, both sides will have yarn overs.
You Should Totally Knit This If: You have been wanting to knit a bigger triangular shawl because the single skein ones are too tiny. And if you like audio books, so you can listen while you look at your knitting taking shape.
You Should Definitely Not Knit This If: The only way you are willing to knit lace is with ‘resting rows’. And if you were looking for a mindless knit, then you better keep on walking.
Runlet, by Sarah Brunenberg
This is my top favourite in the collection! A very wearable pullover that cleverly combines sportweight yarn and translucent stripes of SweetGeorgia’s Silver Mist laceweight in a mohair and silk blend for a bit of decadence. This one is cropped, but you could easily add an extra 4 inches to the body with one more skein of SweetGeorgia Superwash Sport. It also features my favourite design detail of the moment- a split hem!
You Should Totally Knit This If: You are looking for a pullover that is simple in design but has clever details. And if the mohair/silk stripes had you at ‘hello’.
You Should Definitely Not Knit This If: If you hate short rows, and your idea of a perfect sweater is a top down raglan, because everything else feels too fussy for you.
Shelburne, by Fatima Hinds
Knit from the bottom up, this textured cardigan is knit mosaic style, meaning that you only work one colour at a time and slipped stitches and yarn placement create the intricate details. If you wanted to knit a garment that was as easy to knit as it is easy to wear, this would be a great choice.
You Should Totally Knit This If: You love texture and the look of colourwork, but the idea of knitting it intimidates you.
You Should Definitely Not Knit This If: You’d rather leave the inside riddled with fringes of yarn than weave in your ends. or if you find the elbow length sleeves an odd choice for fall (but you could lengthen them, of course!)
I’m sure you noticed the word giveaway in the blog post title, right? Aren’t giveaways exciting!
