Now you might be thinking “hey, isn’t the director named Yoshinari too?” And you’d be right: not only is Kou “Aninari” Yoshinari the older brother of LWA director Yoh Yoshinari, he’s the reason why Yoh went into the anime industry to begin with.
Kou’s a funny guy. He developed this very painterly (he paints over the frames himself), painstakingly detailed style early on that often gets mistaken for 3DCG. He’s one of those animators everyone else in the industry just kinda looks at and goes “now there goes one talented motherfucker.”
But then he also hangs out with this doujin circle called “The Mysteries of Animation Brigade” headed by someone named Mebachi and does loose, expressive drawings of girls.
I like this cut because it shows both his sides in the same frame.
