A Boone County man has been charged with drug-related felonies after a traffic stop earlier this week in Howard County.

According to a probable-cause statement, on Tuesday, September 26, Fayette Police officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for violations on Church Street near the Howard County Courthouse.

The officers spoke with the driver, 34-year-old Benjamin Meyers, of Columbia, and allegedly noticed him to being acting in a suspicious manner. A search of Meyer’s vehicle ensued, which reportedly discovered him to be in possession of illegal drugs that allegedly tested positive for heroin and methamphetamine.

Online court documents say Meyers has been charged with two counts of a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabis.

Bond was set at $20,000 cash only.

A future date for Meyers in Howard County Circuit Court in Fayette is pending.
