The Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Festival: Dane Cook/Sebastian Maniscalco/Iliza Shlesinger at Gexa Energy Pavilion – for the 4th consecutive year, Funny Or Die presents Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Festival, which also includes Tom Segura, Bobby Lee, Ali Wong, Jermaine Fowler, Big Jay Oakerson and Roastmaster Jeff Ross. Ft. Worth Oktoberbest at Panther Island Pavilion – per their website, “an authentic German celebration with just the right amount of Texas thrown in to make it our own. Greek Food Festival of Dallas at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church – the 60th celebration serves up delicious Greek food, music, dancing, Gree comedian Basile (Sat. 3pm) … and FUN… all the elements of big fat Greek party! Admission $6. Children 12 and under – FREE.
McKinney Oktoberfest at Historic Downtown McKinney – this 9th annual celebration will draw approx. 50,000 from all across north Texas!
Wheels and Warbirds at Cavanaugh Flight Museum – brings the sights and sounds of history to life, giving guests the opportunity to ride in the museum’s famed collection of vintage aircraft and military vehicles. Families will enjoy the carnival-like atmosphere featuring games and activities for the kids, World War II tank demonstrations, concessions, aircraft tours and great photo opportunities with aircraft that are not normally available for viewing. The event also features the museum’s unique collection of rare Vietnam-era Skyraiders, one of the few flying AD-6’s in the world as well as the multi seat AD-5 that guests can take a ride in. With over 2,000 horsepower and a bomb load greater than that of a B-17, the Skyraider proved to be one of the best piston engine aircraft in History. On Saturday, Sept. 24, the museum will host the Pontiac Southern Nationals Car Show featuring some of the finest Pontiac muscle cars from around the country. Then on Sunday, the American Classic Car Show will celebrate classic and custom vehicles from every era.

1st Annual Harvest Festival at Felix H. Lozada, SR. Gateway – music, food, a pumpkin patch, a farmer’s market, children’s activities, plus the 2016 Freedom Run at Trinity Groves, a 5K run and 1 mile walk that raises money for the Dallas Police Association Assist The Officer Foundation. According to their Facebook page, this is North Texas’ largest known tribute to the victims and heroes of 9.11.01. See http://www.freedomrun.com.
2nd Annual Chalk Art Festival at West 7th – featuring (3) commissioned street painting artists who will spend hours creating colorful visual masterpieces! There will also be an amateur contest open to anyone who would like to create a 4’x4′ chalk art on-site during the event.n Kids can create in the children’s chalk art creation area. FREE admission. Food and beverages from 7th St. merchants available to purchase. Portion of the proceeds benefits The Art Station, a non-profit organization offering individual and group art therapy, as well as community programs, for both children and adults.
Smoked Dallas at Main Street Garden – a deliciously curated BBQ and Music Festival featuring the best of Texas, including pit masters, chefs and music!
Flight Of The Monarch Celebration at Central Park Grand Prairie – 10am-4pm – celebrates the annual migration of the monarch butterfly from North America to Central Mexico. This free event will include 3 Monarch butterfly releases at noon, 2 & 4 p.m.; a Kids Zone with bounce houses, rock climbing and children crafts; arts & crafts vendors; food; and, back by popular demand, music by four-time Grammy nominee Trout Fishing in America. Trout Fishing in America is an eclectic folk/rock band best known for family music and kids’ songs. Songs like “My Hair Had a Party Last Night,” “18 Wheels on a Big Rig,” and “When I Was a Dinosaur” have earned them a place in the hearts of kids and parents everywhere. Remote parking is available at Dubiski High School with shuttle service to and from the event.
