Here’s what’s NEW in theaters this weekend!

Mechanic: Resurrection – Rated R

Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) returns as the Mechanic in the sequel to the 2011 action thriller. When the deceitful actions of a cunning but beautiful woman (Jessica Alba) force him to return to the life he left behind, Bishop’s life is once again in danger as he has to complete an impossible list of assassinations of the most dangerous men in the world.

Critics: what you’ve come to expect from his films… more of the same. 40% of critics LIKE, according to Rottentomatoes.com.

Blake: another matinee priced movie, at best.

Hands Of Stone – Rated R

HANDS OF STONE follows the life of Roberto Duran (Edgar Ramirez), the Panamanian fighter who made his professional debut in 1968 as a 16 year‐old and retired in 2002 at the age of 50. In June 1980, he defeated Sugar Ray Leonard (singer/actor Usher Raymond) to capture the WBC welterweight title, but shocked the boxing world by returning to his corner in their November rematch, famously saying the words “no mas” (no more.)

Critics: 46% LIKE.

Blake: too bad Robert DeNiro, Ellen Barkin and John Turturro can’t raise that number. However, being an almost 50/50 split, I’ll give it a shot.

Don’t Breathe – Rated R

A trio of reckless thieves breaks into the house of a wealthy blind man, thinking they’ll get away with the perfect heist. They’re wrong.

Critics: Don’t Breathe smartly twists its sturdy premise to offer a satisfyingly tense, chilling addition to the home invasion genre that’s all the more effective for its simplicity, according to Rottentomatoes.com. 88% of critics LIKE.

Blake: looking forward to experiencing Avatar star Steven Lang in the lead role. My inside sources say this movie is HOT!

Southside With You – Rated PG-13

Inspired by Barack and Michelle Obama’s first date, SOUTHSIDE WITH YOU recounts the eventful summer day in 1989 when a young law firm associate named Barack Obama (Parker Sawyers) tried to woo lawyer Michelle Robinson (Tika Sumpter) during a daylong date that took them from the Art Institute of Chicago to a screening of Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing to the site of their first kiss outside of an ice cream parlor.

Critics: Southside With You looks back on a fateful real-life date with strong performances and engaging dialogue, adding up to a romance that makes for a pretty good date movie in its own right. 93% of critics LIKE, as reported by Rottentomatoes.com.

Blake: who would expect a hit movie about our President before a new one is elected?
