At its next meeting on May 8, the Board of Education of the Katonah-Lewisboro School District is expected to appoint Ms. Debra Legato as the new Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources.

Ms. Legato, who has been the Director of Human Resources in the Yorktown Central School District since October 2008, will fill the position that is currently held on an interim basis by Harry LeFevre. She will begin with the district on July 28.

“We are pleased to be able to recommend Ms. Legato, who has significant experience in school district human resources in multiple communities,” said Interim Superintendent Michael Jumper. “She will be a welcome addition to the staff.”

In addition to her current position in Yorktown CSD, Ms. Legato has filled human resource positions in the Irvington UFSD and the Peekskill City School District. She maintains state certifications as a school district administrator and school business administrator. Earlier in her career she worked for six years as the Administrative Assistant for Fiscal Operations at Southern Westchester BOCES.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to join the staff of the Katonah-Lewisboro School District and I would like to thank the Board of Education and the Superintendent for this wonderful opportunity,” said Ms. Legato. “The district has an outstanding reputation and I look forward to making contributions that accrue to the benefit of children, families and taxpayers.”

Ms. Legato holds an MS in School Administration and Supervision from Mercy College, and has acquired a combined 30 credits in educational leadership studies from Mercy, the College of New Rochelle, and SUNY New Paltz. She is an experienced presenter and trainer, having conducted engagements on new teacher orientation, sexual harassment prevention, and numerous other human resources matters.
