The Position:
Our communication and marketing team wants all Australians, and the world, to become aware of the impact our work makes on their lives. There is no shortage of amazing images, projects and innovative design possibilities.
We currently have an opportunity for a Graphic Designer who will deliver creative and innovative design solutions for clients across CSIRO. This role works with a senior Graphic Designer and Production Manager.
As a Graphic Designer in the brand and marketing team, you will demonstrate your skills across a range of activities including concept development for new products and programs, brand campaign roll out and collateral development across digital and print. In addition, excellent typesetting within brand templates is a critical skill.
You will play a critical role in helping CSIRO to strengthen and grow our brand by delivering exceptional and creative design solutions within CSIRO’s brand style guide.
We are looking for an experienced Graphic Designer with a creative portfolio that demonstrates experience across corporate and creative design. You will be enthusiastic and keen to exercise creative thinking and initiative. You will flourish in a team that values agility and collaboration.
Your duties will include:
Under guidance, deliver graphic design services for a range of clients, working to the priorities set by the Brand and Marketing Manager.
Under guidance and instruction, critically review client briefs and requests, to ensure innovative and creative solutions to meet clients’ objectives.
Provide exceptional customer service in a flexible, adaptive and responsive way.
Use contemporary design techniques and solutions to meet the needs of our key audiences and effectively communicate information.
Demonstrate an enthusiastic approach to learning new skills and experiences and sharing knowledge/lessons within and across teams in order to continuously improve and processes and customer service.
Communicate effectively and respectfully with all staff, clients and suppliers in the interests of good business practice, collaboration and enhancement of CSIRO’s reputation.
To be successful you will have:
A degree in graphic design or equivalent experience
Significant commercial design experience in digital and print media
Strong conceptual thinking skills
Established problem-solving skills and an intuitive approach to visual communication
High proficiency in Adobe Suite (inc. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat)
Experience with MS Office products
Understanding of web accessibility and W3C guidelines
The ability to deliver efficient graphic design solutions using CSIRO’s branded design templates, with minimum supervision.
The ability to deliver creative concept development and execution for a variety of projects, campaigns and initiatives.
