In-house PR role, joining an integrated Brand, Marketing & Comms team at NSWs leading cancer NFP
Cancer Council NSW is an independent, community funded not for profit with a purpose. Our purpose is to beat cancer. Whats our point of difference? We look at all aspects of Cancer from research right through to support.
Based in our Woolloomooloo office, reporting to the PR Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing specific public relations strategies across NSW, including regional communications support. This role plays a critical function in helping CCNSW to meet its organisational PR favourability objective. You will also be responsible for responding to reactive media requests, supporting adhoc PR campaigns that arise, and providing assistance to the PR Manager and broader team.
An opportunity to work on some of the biggest fundraising campaigns including Australias Biggest Morning Tea, Daffodil Day, The March Charge, as well as promoting the work that Cancer Council NSW does in beating cancer through world-class research, cancer prevention and support programs and our advocacy work.

As part of the wider Marketing and Communications team, you will sit within the busy Brand, Marketing and Communications team where your excellent relationship management and influencing skills, will be valued during your significant interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
Key aspects of will be to:
Develop, implement and evaluate Public Relations and social media communications strategies
Set clear objectives for each Public Relations plan in line the organisational and program specific objectives
Ensure key messages and media materials are delivered in communications through all channels
Write press releases, media pitches and other media and social materials and respond to media requests for information and interviews
Proactively liaise with radio, TV, print and online channels to place creative, cut through & newsworthy stories
Brief all relevant Cancer Council NSW spokespeople (including CEO and Exec) on key messages for media interviews and responses
Use Media Monitors, and other traditional and social media analytical tools to evaluate media uptake and community response on relevant channels
Provide a post campaign evaluation report, complete with key findings, insights and measures
Develop and coordinate processes and procedures for internal and external stakeholders to ensure Public Relations campaigns and wider activities are effective and meet the agreed objectives
Develop and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder management relationships
Provide ongoing advice and support to regional

You will also bring:
Experience as a publicist, PR Officer or agency equivalent of an account manager
Experience in integrating and driving social media into Public Relations campaigns
Tertiary qualifications in journalism, public relations or similar
Proven stakeholder relationship/management skills personable, confident, ability to be flexible, and ability to manage up and down within a team
Strong attention to detail
Self-sufficient, shows initiative and is a team player
Good problem solving skills, quick thinking and hard working
Highly organised, able to function well under pressure and work on multiple projects autonomously
Strong relationships with consumer and medical media and online bloggers will be looked on favourably.
