ment Chief Information & Digital Officer
NSW Department of Finance, Services & Innovation (GCIDO)
The NSW GCIDO reports into the Secretary of the Department of Finance,
Services and Innovation. The role provides leadership to, and owns gove
ance, strategy and policy for, ICT and Digital, across all NSW gove
ment agencies.
This is a high profile role with direct line responsibility for an operational
budget of more than $100M and a team of over 200 staff and significant
influence over the $2B+ that the NSW Gove
ment spends on ICT. The role will require you to work collaboratively with the
CIOs of each of the Clusters to ensure a coherent and consistent approach to
technology across all of NSW Gove
ment. Your advice and recommendations will be relied upon by Secretaries,
Ministers, and the Cabinet Expenditure Review Committee.
Key responsibilities include:
Gove
ment ICT Strategy, Policy and Architecture including the Digital Gove
ment strategy;
Implementing a new ICT investment assurance framework across Gove
ment;
Responsibility for ICT procurement policy and guidelines (including panel
structuring and implementation);
Responsibility for core ICT infrastructure including: Gove
ment Data Centres (GovDC), the NSW Govt Licensing System mainframe app, NSW
Identity Hub (intra NSW public sector ID);
Responsibility for the NSW Telco Authority that manages all radio
telecommunications for NSW Gove
ment agencies.
Experience & capability required:
Experience in a commercial consumer services environment (for example a bank,
telco, airline or insurer);
Broad technology leadership – IT strategy, architecture, applications,
infrastructure, operations and digital experience;
Demonstrated transformation track record;
Experience working for or with Gove
ment will be an advantage but is not essential;
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across a large complex multi-
divisional organisation.
Strong people leadership experience with the ability to translate our Digital
vision into specific technology objectives
