Blended role responsible for increasing awareness of CCNSW health programs and increasing revenue generated from CCNSW fundraising events within the Southern NSW communities
Cancer Council NSW (CCNSW) is an independent, community funded not for profit with a purpose. Our purpose is to beat cancer. Cancer Council NSW has six regions which service the entire state and the regional teams have a key role in extending the reach of Cancer Council to deliver high quality programs and raise funds in support of the vision to defeat cancer. This role is crucial to ensure that we are providing the best support for our communities to meet the needs of today, and best prepare us for the needs of the future.
Summary
Based primarily in our Wollongong office, supporting the Far South Coast communities which will require weekly overnight travel, this role has a focus on relationships and partnerships.
Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager, who you will partner closely with to support the local relationships, you will:
Manage/implement key community based fundraising events across the region, with a specific focus on Relay For Life, Community Fundraising (Do Your Thing) and Pink portfolio
Manage/implement key community based health programs across the region e.g Eat it To Beat It; Sun Sound; Golf & Sun Protection initiative Improve your Long Game; Tackling Tobacco
How?
You will:
Plan, develop and coordinate all aspects of Relay For Life events and the regional Community Fundraising (Do Your Thing and Pink) event plans in line with the organisational strategy to achieve financial targets
Continually evaluate and refine events, processes and systems to ensure event programs are effective
Raise the profile of Cancer Council as the local cancer charity and maintain high levels of brand and service recognition
Plan, monitor, report and evaluate programs and projects
Facilitate the implementation of cancer prevention, information, support and advocacy programs
Recruit, manage and support volunteers and volunteer leaders to support CCNSW in the delivery of fundraising activities, brand & communication activities, business engagement activities and other community projects across the region
Identify gaps in service provision for people affected by cancer and assess organisational and local capacity to address the need for new or additional programs and/or support services
Who are we looking for?
With your experience in community development within the health and/or social care field, if you are passionate about our cause and believe you could make a valuable contribution, we would love to hear from you. You will also need to have:
Success in coordinating and promoting fundraising events, or similar events
Demonstrated success in building stakeholder relationships in communities to support the growth of events, programs and services
Experience in engaging local communities/organisations to support a cause related issue
Demonstrated ability to manage change within a community and/or heath based organisation and adapt programs to meet this changing need
Experience in execution of brand and communication activities, including marketing, media liaison and publicity generation
Experience in working effectively with volunteers, committees and/or community groups
An ability to manage and expand existing networks along with identifying and establishing new networks
The ability to travel extensively and work flexible hours (including weekends and evenings) throughout the region is required as is a current Class C drivers licence. Access to a fleet vehicle is available.
