Lucas Meyer Cosmetics is the business unit of International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. (IFF) which develops, manufactures and markets innovative ingredients for the cosmetic and personal care industry. We offer active ingredients, functional ingredients and delivery systems from various origins.
As a part of the Lucas Meyer Cosmetics Group, Southern Cross Botanicals (SCB) specializes in developing ingredients exclusively derived from native Australian plants. With a strong focus on the sustainable use and preservation of natural resources, the company offers expertise in the fields of botany, agronomy and biology, giving it full control over its production processes, from fresh plant biomass to final ingredients. Today, this unique expertise has allowed the company to foster special partnerships with major players in the beauty industry.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and driven senior leader to join the SCB team and take a leading role in both the SCB business and strong bonds back to the Global Lucas Meyer leadership team.
As the Deputy General Manager, you will be primarily responsible for motivating, leading and measuring the performance of the Manufacturing operation to ensure the achievement of service, expense budgets, production schedules, quality standards and safety standards for the entire Manufacturing Operation. Ensuring delivery of exceptional customer service, from a manufacturing aspect by leading the production team according to good manufacturing practices in accordance with our Quality Systems Procedures will also be a significant part of the role.
Key responsibilities:
Hands-on daily management of the manufacturing operation
Oversee the financial and administrative performance of the operations
Monitor, measure and improve GMP, Quality, Productivity, Regulatory and Work Health & Safety.
Liaise with the General Managers direct reports to implement policies, procedures & initiatives across each department:
Production
Quality Assurance
Regulatory Affairs
Research & Development
Customer Service
Finance & Administration
Farm
Planning (setting of stock levels, manufacturing schedule, etc)
Supply chain (forecast sourcing requirements, liaise with suppliers, assist supplier audits etc)
Maintenance (implement maintenance schedule for factory, equipment etc)
Maintain ongoing improvement in production processes.
Ensure wastage is eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level.
Ensure any waste is disposed of in a manner acceptable to regulating bodies.
Change management assist with change management; work on culture and moral.
Overseeing all quality systems, to ensure they meet company requirements.
Conduct staff reviews measuring performance against KPIs.
Ensure all staff are aware of and follow Company procedures.
Work on department projects
Liaise with other IFF/LMC divisions as required
Act as the Australian Director (member of the board) of Lucas Meyer Australia and Southern Cross Botanicals
Required Experience
Requirements / Profile:
Degree qualified Business, Accounting, Engineering, Science etc.
Post graduate qualifications MBA, Directors Course (preferred)
Industry membership AICD, CPA, CA, ASCC, IFSCC
Demonstrated management skills in fast paced environment
Strong GMP / Quality / Compliance experience and knowledge
Minimum 10 years experience in a senior management position in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, nutritional or food & beverage of FMCGs either in ingredients or finished products.
Experience with multi-national company environment
