BUSINESS UNIT OBJECTIVE

BT Investment Solutions (BTIS) is the institutional and premium investment arm of BTFG, specializing in investment product, packaging and solutions for the domestic market and selective distribution based on demand in the institutional segment.
BTIS’ core strategy is to expand into new and existing high margin segments and asset classes such as solutions, International Equities and Alternatives. These innovative solutions aim to capture and grow market share including mass market and bespoke investment outcomes (e.g. managed portfolios, annuities and high yield high margin WIB products). Proprietary BTFG products are distributed through both existing and new distribution channels such as direct, digital and international.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Research Relationship Manager co-ordinates the researcher review and reporting processes for BTIS Investment Strategies, liaising with investment managers, research houses, investment committees and the Advance investment team.
The role has a strong focus on product ratings and recommended product lists. The Research Manager will manage all facets of the researcher rating process and must have an ability to gain researcher support for the BTIS Investment Strategies and the underling investment mangers. The incumbent must ensure that the best product ratings possible are obtained in order to achieve strategic objectives.
The incumbent will assist the BTIS Distribution team with achieving financial targets, increasing market share and building customer advocacy through achieving a high standard of ratings from key research houses. The incumbent will deliver targetted research to support the BTIS Distribution team. The incumbent will contribute to the strategy for the BTIS Investment Strategies from initiation of concepts through to execution, ensuring that they focus on longer term goals and growth initiatives and understand how these developments might be recognised from a researcher perspective.
The incumbent needs to have a high technical knoweldge of managed funds and specifically understand the manager mix and the fund structure to be able to address resercher questions and to participate in the review process. The incumbent is responsbile for ensuring the BTIS investment team is fully briefed on the requirements and focus points for each review.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge/Qualifications/ Experience
At least 5 years in a research, research relationship or product role, preferably within the research space;
Tertiary qualifications in a business, marketing, economics or finance related discipline;
Technical proficiency in qualitative and qualitative investment research including capital markets, economics, portfolio construction and analytics;
Industry knowledge of managed funds, platforms and financial planning including PS146 compliant;
Knowledge of product life-cycle including development, distribution, client services and investment management;
Knowledge of key planning processes and how product ratings and recommmended lists influence product selection;
Knowledege of the wealth management industry including key players, offerings and service delivery;
Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
Solid organisational and time management skills;
Strong Interpersonal and relationship management skills;
Technology Capabilities including Mercer MPA: Retail, Wholesale, Morningstar Direct.
