Business Analyst (Guidewire)

Job Overview:

Capgemini

Financial Services requires an experienced Business Analyst with Technical /

Management skills in the area of business intelligence, data warehousing,

reporting and analytics. The person will apply his / her Financial Services

industry expertise to help our clients derive value from their internal and

external sources of data. This person must be able to engage with business and

IT stakeholders in order to derive requirements for Business Intelligence

Solutions and to work with the development teams to translate those

requirements into accurate Software Specifications. Furthermore, they will have

to be able to clearly articulate their approach and deliverables to potential

clients.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Elicitation

and Documentation of Business and Data Requirements

Definition

of Enterprise Information Requirements

Understands

business processes, gathers and documents project requirements and translates

them into functional and non-functional specifications for BI reports and

applications

Standards:

Development of User Access Architecture – BI solution elements relating to

analytical reporting

Identifies

data quality issues and supports data governance initiatives by participating

in necessary activities including data profiling

Participate

in technical design sessions, working with technical resources, to provide

insight during solution development

Technical

Consultancy: Advising clients on BI reporting and analysis best practice

Utilise

a range of Analysis Techniques to elicit and present requirements towards

solutions

Business

Case and Cost Justification of the development of Informational Systems

Reviewing

Corporate Information exploitation, the effectiveness of their Informational

Systems and gaps between their information requirements and capabilities

Working

with the Test Teams to ensure that the technical specifications have been

successfully delivered and meet the requirements

Assisting

client end users with the UAT process

Presales

Providing domain expertise and meeting with clients to secure new business.

Responding

to client RFI, RFP and ITT documents including cost estimates and follow

activities to secure new business.

Liaise

with internal/external clients in order to analyse business procedure, clarify

clients? requirements and to define the scope of existing software, hardware

and network provision;

Undertake

feasibility studies for major IT developments incorporating costs and benefits,

and presents proposals to clients;

Examine

existing business models and flows of data and designs functional

specifications and test plans for new systems in order to meet clients needs;

Skill, Experience & General information

Required:

Basic Technical Requirements

Guidewire

Experience

in the Information Technology industry with recent experience of client facing

Business Intelligence reporting and analysis development

At

least 5 years experience and with a good working knowledge for at least one of

the following software applications:

SAS

Enterprise Intelligence Platform o Business Objects

Cognos

Microstrategy

QlikView

Comfortable

liaising with senior client personnel to establish requirements and discuss

potential development strategies

Able

to respectfully challenge customers to think about different options

comfortable providing them with options rather than just perform what they

request

Excellent

communication skills interviewing, preparation and delivery of presentations

and reports

Interested

in expanding capabilities into all areas of Information Architecture

Background

in Financial Services within either Insurance, Banking or Capital Markets

A

track record of achievement and recognition within the IT industry as evidenced

by significant promotion since leaving University

A

strong academic track record including the achievement of a good honours degree

or equivalent

Experience

of working within the consulting industry

Excellent

communication skills interviewing, preparation and delivery of presentations

and reports

Happy

to travel within the UK and occasionally abroad Technical and Consulting

Skills:

Experience

of the data warehouse development cycle from user requirements definition

through design, development, testing and implementation

Experience

of knowledge of integration issues and technologies

Extensive

experience and knowledge of data warehousing and challenges posed by data

quality

Experience

of working with industry models for either insurance, banking, capital markets,

financial regulation or compliance

Knowledge

and understanding of how Big Data is currently impacting the Financial Services

sector

Experience

in a analysis role for a large transformation programme

Knowledge

of SDLC processes and methodologies (including some of RUP, Agile, Waterfall)

Experience

developing test plans and scenarios

Excellent

analytical and problem solving skills

Excellent

verbal and written communication skills

Strong

presence and ability to interact with various levels of seniority within a

client organisation

Mentoring

and management of team members in technology, architecture and delivery of

applications Ability to articulate and present different points-of-views on

various technologies and analysis techniques

Ability

to use agile prototyping tools such as QlikView

Ability

to run SQL data queries and perform data analysis
