The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, the principal organisation representing the medical specialty of psychiatry in Australia and New Zealand, is seeking to appoint a Content Developer to produce written communications for online and print publication.

In this role, you will produce a range of communications, including online fact sheets for the general public, social media and web content, and newsletter and journal articles. You will plan, research and write the content, seek feedback from a range of stakeholders and subject matter experts, and manage the design and publication processes. The role will focus on translating complex medical concepts into plain English and enhancing the publics understanding of psychiatry.

Reporting to the Webmaster and working within the Membership and Events Team, this is a newly created position in a small, friendly team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced content developer or writer, ideally with previous exposure to the health sector, to use their expertise to improve the mental health information available to the Australian and New Zealand community.

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

A relevant tertiary qualification.

A minimum of 3 years professional experience in a relevant communications role or roles.

Excellent written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to write, edit and coordinate the production of highly professional communications, displaying an excellent grasp of language, spelling and grammar. Native-level English is essential.

Demonstrated ability to write effective, high-quality web content, using best practice approaches and with regard to SEO.

The ability to translate complex concepts into plain English.

High-level interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise effectively and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Excellent planning, organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Genuine commitment to providing high-quality service and dedication to exceeding the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.

Demonstrated initiative and the ability to undertake work with limited supervision.

Experience writing public-facing health material and/or a good understanding of medical terminology would be highly regarded.

A working knowledge of HTML, digital imaging, Photoshop, CMSs, digital video and social media platforms would be advantageous.
