An opportunity has arisen for the position of Field Service Technician located in Newcastle or Port Macquarie. This position plays an integral part of the KAL Service Department and will report to the Newcastle Service Manager.

The Objective of the role will be to carry out maintenance and repairs on any equipment nominated by the Company and to actively communicate with the Service Department to ensure excellent customer service.

DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:

Operational

*

To perform trade related tasks on earthmoving equipment.

*

Ensure that all repairs are completed to the highest quality. Ensuring that rework is not due to negligence or lack of technical ability.

*

Ensure all repairs and tasks are performed in a timely manner.

*

Source and requisition parts through the appropriate parts manuals and ordering procedures.

*

Ensure unused parts are returned for credit in a prompt timely manner.

*

Have sound written and verbal communication skills and be able to liaise effectively with both Komatsu staff and customers.

*

Ensure that timesheets, service reports and relevant documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.

*

Make sure that all parts removed from machines under warranty are tagged and secured in the designated area.

*

Used and maintain company tools correct and safe manner.

*

Comply with the Komatsu Vehicle policy and ensure company vehicles are maintained and are in a clean, safe condition at all times.

*

Work a reasonable amount of overtime when required by Management.

*

Assist training apprentices.

*

To be aware of and ensure to comply with the companys workplace Health and Safety policy.

Safety and Environmental

*

Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with National, State and Company safety policies and procedures

*

Apply safe working practices, including a high standard of housekeeping to all areas of the business

*

Contribute to the implementation of identified Komatsu initiatives such as 5S, Feel Safety, the Customer Support Charter, Komatsu Way and others as applicable within the KAL Business.

Key Requirements

*

Trade Certificate as a Diesel Fitter/Diesel Technician

*

Extensive knowledge and previous experience of the repair and maintenance of earthmoving equipment and components.

*

All current tickets including working at heights, confined spaces and forklifts is essential

*

Ability to work autonomously

*

Strong communication skills both verbal and written

*

Sound computer skills specifically Microsoft suite.
