Open 364 days per year, the Orange Visitor Information Centre is a one stop shop for tourism information for the Orange Region.
Located in the Civic Centre precinct, alongside the Council Offices, Library, Regional Art Gallery and soon to be open Regional Museum, the Centre offers advice on all things Orange to in excess of 80,000 people each year.
Council is currently looking for dynamic, friendly and customer focused people to join the Tourism team as part time and casual Visitor Centre Tourism Officers.
Put your passion for helping people and exceptional communication skills to good use as you offer a professional and friendly service to visitors to the Orange region including:
Answering face to face, telephone and internet enquiries from people of all ages and backgrounds
Selling Orange as a tourism destination by distributing information on events, local facilities, visitor amenities, local accommodation and tour bookings
Assisting visitors to develop an itinerary of things to do during their stay
Updating and maintaining brochure displays and maps
Helping maintain website and digital communications
Receiving payments via cash and EFTPOS
Collecting visitor data and statistics
Undertaking general administration duties including data entry
Generally keep the Centre clean, tidy and a welcoming place to visit
These positions will suit people who will enjoy being the “face” of Council, have a passion for “selling” our area to visitors, and enjoy working as part of a team. It’s a busy role and you’ll need a positive attitude, be able to follow directions, and be able to work a roster which spans 7 days.
Interested?
To be successful in this position you must have:
Experience in a similar role including tourism or customer service
Comprehensive knowledge of the Orange region
Exceptional communication and customer service skills
The ability to interact with people from a broad customer base
The ability to meet set sales targets in relation to accommodation and tour bookings
Your HSC or equivalent as a minimum level of education
Please note:
Successful applicants for these positions will be required to undergo a Criminal Background Check prior to appointment.
The days of work currently available for the part time positions are Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday between the hours of operation for the Centre (9am to 5pm).
Casual positions may be required to work from Monday to Sunday between the hours of operation for the Centre (9am to 5pm).
