Supervising Town Planner position x 2

About the Position
As a Supervising Planner within the City Development Branch, you will provide professional support to the Executive Coordinator Planning Assessment while providing leadership and management to a team of professional planners and technical officers undertaking assessment of Material Change of Use (MCU) and Reconfiguration of Lot (ROL) applications under the Sustainable Planning Act 2009, and Siting Variations under the Building Act 1975.
The position will supervise the preparation of comprehensive planning reports and recommendations for determination by the Manager City Development under delegated authority, or by Council through City Planning Committee. The position plays a key role in achieving high quality development outcomes in a timely manner for our customers.
About You
You have a strong customer service focus with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills. You have demonstrable experience in providing leadership, supervision and motivation to a team of professionals. You are adaptable and innovative, with the ability to achieve outstanding development assessment outcomes in a timely and efficient manner, while implementing continuous improvement strategies to improve team performance / the service we provide our customers.

Essential: Do you possess tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or equivalent? (You will be required to upload a document as an Education Certificate as part of this application).
Desirable: Explain your experience in managing complex development applications and/or fast track development application types.
Desirable: Explain your leadership experience and people management skills.
Desirable: Do you have extensive knowledge of the relevant legislation, Council’s Planning Scheme, local laws, policies and procedures related to planning assessment.
Desirable: Please provide an example of when you have identified and implemented a continuous improvement .
Desirable: Provide examples demonstrating how you have used your high level of customer service and effective communication skills to achieve successful and timely planning outcomes.
Desirable: Further detail how you have worked collaboratively and productively within a team environment and fostered good relationships with employees and clients.
Desirable: Describe your ability to exercise initiative and judgement, and be innovative when dealing with complex planning issues relevant to this role.
Desirable: Explain your communication and negotiation skills and experience.
