The Sacred Heart Supportive and Palliative Care Service at St Vincents Hospital, Sydney, comprises an inpatient unit, a community palliative care team, and Day Centre. The service provides specialist palliative care and supportive care to patients living with advanced cancer, and other life limiting conditions. We are part of St Vincent’s Health Australia, the largest diversified health care organisation within Australia’s not for profit Catholic health care sector. The palliative care inpatient unit is a 39 bed unit. The unit provides palliative and supportive care to a variety of patients including those with life-limiting illness or who are receiving active treatment such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy, or for symptom control and discharge planning.
We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Educator to join the team. The person will be passionate about teaching, coaching and learning aimed to optimize patient care. The successful applicant will provide a caring and evidence based approach to the professional development of all staff on the unit. The role will initiate creative and innovative clinical learning programs to advance nursing practice and be a professional role model to staff.

Selection Criteria:
Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries.
Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency.
Relevant post-graduate clinical or education qualifications, or working towards or a commitment to commence a post graduate program within 12 months. Three (3) years experience working in the Palliative Care or related clinical area.
Demonstrated knowledge of innovative educational strategies, tools and approaches including e-learning, principles of adult learning and competency attainment.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary team and demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills, including effective leadership, change management, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and demonstrated computer literacy with email and an electronic patient record system.
Demonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their professional practice.
Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to prioritise competing workloads with in a complex environment.
