SUPPORTIVE AND PALLIATIVE CARE SERVICES INPATIENT UNIT, CANCER, ACCESS AND SUPPORT SERVICES, ROBINA, GOLD COAST HOSPITAL AND HEALTH SERVICE

Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS) is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to work in our one of a kind, purpose built Palliative Care facility based in the Supportive and Palliative Care Services Inpatient Unit.

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manageryou will be responsible and accountable for delivering quality patient-focused, evidence-based nursing care providing leadership, direction and support to other nursing staff and students and working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

* Provide high quality evidence based management of the symptoms and the syndromes of the dying process including supporting the carers and families through this time and after bereavement services follow-up.
* Focus on multi-disciplinary management of pain and other symptoms with an emphasis on maximizing function and optimizing quality of life to allow patients to live as normally as possible in the care setting of their choice.
* Adhere to relevant standards and frameworks to ensure standards of care are being met including national standards such as Palliative Care Australia (PCA) is required.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this position you will require:

* Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Medical/Surgical/Aged Care  role
* Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
* A post-graduate qualification in relevant area of specialty will be highly regarded
* Completion of a graduate program or equivalent (i.e. 1 year experience) is required
* Effective computer skills relevant to the role.
* Effective communication and conflict resolution skills
* Demonstrated experience providing emotional support in a palliative care environment
* This position may be required to work across Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service facilities
* The successful applicant is required to be available to work any shift

ON OFFER (BENEFITS/INCENTIVES)

* A base salary ranging from $64 052 to $82 158 per annum (f/t) or $32.30 to $41.43 per hour (p/t)

ABOUT US

Supportive and Palliative Care Services are part of the Service Division of Cancer, Access and Support Services. The Supportive and Palliative Care Services Inpatient Unit is a 20 bed unit, based at Robina Hospital and provides multidisciplinary specialised palliative care focused acute and supportive care for patients in the pre-terminal and terminal phases of their disease process.

The facility has been purpose built and designed in consultation with a highly experienced Palliative Care team. Our team are committed to informing, supporting, advocating and providing the best quality Palliative Care that has been planned to meet the individual’s unique needs – physical, psychologically, socially and spiritually.

Through maintenance and restoration to optimal health, patients and loved ones are supported and encouraged to return to a quality of life that is active and as rewarding as possible during their end of life journey.
