Job Description
Duties
The Geophysical Acquisition & Processing Section requires a geophysicist to develop new geophysical products designed to enhance the information contained in existing data or improve coverage with higher resolution and new data types to support GAs work plan. The role includes developing new methods of geophysical data modelling and inversion to transform the geophysical data into geological knowledge. Developments are based on research and development, often in collaboration with other science agencies, and include:
Development of the strategic direction for regional scale airborne electromagnetic (AEM) surveys;
Take responsibility for implementing airborne gravity-gradiometry (AGG) as a regional survey method;
Co-ordinate the development of new databases for AEM surveys and rock properties information;
Develop improved inversion methodologies;
Negotiate the development of continental-scale modelling in spherical coordinates;
Collaboration with other specialists to apply high-performance computers to geophysical processing and inversion;
