The ACT Emergency Services Agency is

responsible for emergency management

and related support arrangements in the

Territory. The Agencys four operational

services are Act Ambulance Service, ACT

Fire Brigade, ACT Rural Fire Service and

the ACT State Emergency Service.

The Emergency Services Agency

undertakes to:

provide emergency services 24 hours

per day every day of the year;

provide its services efficiently and

effectively within resource allocations;

ensure that compliance activity meets

legislative standards on all occasions;

use best practice in the provision of

assistance for emergencies and the

conduct of community education and

awareness programs; and

train and equip our people to maintain

readiness and deliver emergency

services to meet agreed standards and

benchmarks.

Emergency Management

The Emergency Management branch is

responsible for providing support

capabilities that enable the ESA and the

four services to conduct emergency

management operations. This extends

from routine operations to major

incidents. These include operations

conducted for the national capital and

neighbouring regional areas, and national

emergency management activities.

Media and Community Information

The ESA Media and Community

Information section provides the ACT

community with emergency information

and education. This is facilitated through

the media, ESA websites,

community groups, community events

and Canberra Connect.

The material ranges from information on

routine emergency incidents, educational

publications to community warnings.

Duties / Responsibilities

1.

Deliver timely, concise and accurate public information services in a professional manner within Standard Operating Procedures to

internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the ACT Emergency Services Agency.

2.

Act as a representative of the ACT Emergency Services Agency including the ACT Ambulance Service, ACT Fire Brigade, ACT Rural Fire

Service and ACT State Emergency Service to external stakeholders.

3.

Produce high quality oral and written communications products to continual tight deadlines.

4.

Day to day management of volunteers tasked with specific projects within the ESA Media and Community Information Unit.

5.

Be able to perform regular on-call work after hours including overnight and weekends as directed by the Manager ESA Media and

Community Information.

6.

Perform basic financial accounting tasks.

7.

Maintain records in accordance with the

Territory Records Act 2002
