The Role:
We are seeking an innovative and high performing professional to join our Australian analysis team . In this high profile role you will help our clients understand how new technologies are changing the energy markets, and how business strategies and models are adapting to the change.
You should be articulate and have the confidence and intellectual curiosity to thrive in an analytical environment. You will also be a team player: the role will involve frequent interaction with colleagues and industry contacts, incorporating analysis from members of BNEF’s team of analysts around the world.
The role provides you with an opportunity to be at the forefront of change in the energy sector.
The Responsibilities:
- Producing quantitative and qualitative research on the economics of distributed energy technologies (particularly PV & storage), their effect on the energy markets, and the strategies and businesses models being developed to adapt to new technologies – Presenting at conferences, industry events and in the media – Engaging with clients & industry figures every day – Contributing to the development of the business
The role is based in Sydney, reporting to our head of Australia.
The Requirement:
- 3+ years of experience in an analytical or strategic role – Strong knowledge or demonstrated interest in the energy industry, energy markets, new technologies and renewable energy. Knowledge of the economics of PV, energy storage and the challenges facing utility business models will be highly regarded. – Outstanding quantitative skills, with 3+ years of experience building economic/financial models in Microsoft Excel – Exceptional communication skills: writing (for research reports), speaking (for presentations, at conferences, to clients, or to the media), and ability to graphically present data. Written and spoken English of native standard. – Ability to effectively work on a close-knit and collaborative team – professional, personable, collegial. – Positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, initiative and an ability to face and innovatively deal with issues in a mature and professional manner. – An undergraduate or post-graduate degree in an analytical discipline, with outstanding academic results.
We Preferred:
- Experience as an analyst in the energy industry, investment banking, management consulting, telecommunications or consumer electronics industries. – Experience building or manipulating complex, Excel-based fundamental models, or fluency in other statistical software such as R, Stata or SAS.
