FisherBroyles, LLP (“FisherBroyles”) is pleased to announce the recent addition of six new partners to its Washington, D.C. office: Jonathan Cain, Paul Economon, Amy Epstein Gluck, Robert Kinberg, Carson Porter, and Jack Wuerker. These attorneys bring new expertise to the firm and bolster its existing practices in the areas of commercial litigation, employment law, M&A, general corporate law, hi-tech, export controls, privacy and data security, government procurement, and mechanical and electrical patent prosecution.

Jonathan Cain
Jonathan Cain is a veteran lawyer whose experience includes government contracts compliance, transactional work, export controls, data security, and litigation. His unique expertise further expands the portfolio of services FisherBroyles provides to its US and foreign clients.
Michael Cone, the firm’s Washington D.C. Office Managing Partner, said he is “delighted that the firm’s long search for increased expertise in government procurement and export controls concluded with the addition of an outstanding attorney skilled in both areas.”
Jonathan possesses an extensive background representing US and foreign companies as well as universities and non-profit organizations. He assists clients with federal grants and contracts for research, development, and acquisition of information systems; software and services; communications equipment and services; life sciences products; defense hardware and materials; health care services; support services; humanitarian and development assistance; infrastructure project development; and outsourcing. He also assists US companies with compliance and licensing under the ITAR and EAR export controls, the OFAC sanctions regime, and foreign licensing requirements of government-funded R&D. He also helps companies comply with laws and regulations involving the foreign acquisition and control of US entities performing sensitive and classified work. Prior to joining FisherBroyles, Jonathan was a partner at Mintz Levin and Shaw Pittman in Washington, D.C.
Paul Economon
Paul Ecomonon, FisherBroyles PartnerPaul Economon has over 20 years of experience as a corporate, contract, commercial, business transactional and technology attorney. He possesses an extensive background in providing both legal and business support to the small to medium enterprise sector, with a strong focus on high technology in the Northern Virginia hi-tech corridor. In search of a larger platform, Paul joined FisherBroyles from another cloud-based firm where he practiced for four years.
Kevin Broyles said, “Paul hit the ground running. He is clearly a known quantity in that part of the country and his reputation and ability significantly strengthen our corporate and technology practices in the Mid-Atlantic region.”
Paul has broad transactional experience involving commercial negotiations and transactions, mergers and acquisitions, asset and stock purchases, corporate and entity reorganizations and recapitalizations, as well as the sale or purchase of securities and associated compliance with state and federal securities laws. He also has experience with venture capital transactions and has been the owner of his own venture backed company.
In addition to Paul’s legal practice, his numerous community activities include serving as a Boy Scout Leader, a youth soccer coach, a member of the High Tech Prayer Breakfast of Northern Virginia, and a judge of “The Business Plan Competition” sponsored by the George Washington University School of Business.
Amy Epstein Gluck
Amy Gluck, FisherBroyles PartnerAmy Epstein Gluck focuses her practice on employment negotiations; severance agreements; non-compete and non-disclosure agreements; “wrongful terminations” and other EEO matters; representation at the EEOC level; and advising employers about discrimination laws and how to remain in compliance.
Amy also handles civil and commercial litigation matters including business law and litigation (breach of fiduciary duty, conversion, and tortious interference), defamation, contract and quasi-contract issues, corporate issues, shareholder and partnership disputes, and various torts. She regularly appears in federal and state courts and also represents clients in mediation and arbitration.

Amy is a native South Floridian and speaks proficient Spanish. She is a graduate of the George Washington National Law Center and earned a B.A. in English from Tufts University.
Robert Kinberg
Robert Kinburg, FisherBroyles PartnerRobert Kinberg has over 30 years of experience in intellectual property, specializing in patent prosecution in the electrical and mechanical arts. Robert started his career as a patent examiner and subsequently worked in the patent departments of the Navy and Air Force, and in the patent division of NASA’s Office of General Counsel, conducting patent prosecution and assessing patent validity and infringement in the context of patent infringement claims.
Prior to joining FisherBroyles, Robert was a partner for 18 years with Venable LLP, an AmLaw 100 firm, where he developed an extensive international patent law practice representing US and multinational companies, drafting and prosecuting over 2000 patents in the US and countries the world over. T.J. Dovale, the firm’s Intellectual Property Managing Partner, remarked that “Bob is a highly accomplished patent prosecutor who recognizes the unique opportunity Law Firm 2.0® presents to seasoned attorneys who need flexibility to keep their clients happy and grow their businesses.”
Robert’s experience extends over a variety of electrical and mechanical technologies in diverse industries, from sophisticated aerospace systems to medical devices, computers, semiconductors, automotive electrical systems and accessories, high speed electro-mechanical processing machinery, electro-optical testing, sensing and measuring devices, printing and post print processing systems, building systems, metal and plastic extrusion equipment, and hydraulic systems.
Robert regularly counsels clients on product pre-launch issues including right to use in view of existing intellectual property rights held by others; pre-litigation issues including validity infringement and patent design around; and licensing of intellectual property rights.
Carson Porter
FisherBroyles partner Carson PorterCarson Porter brings a rich and diverse background to FisherBroyles. He has represented clients in a variety of litigation matters including arguing successfully before the US Supreme Court. As a corporate executive he has served several healthcare companies as CEO. In addition, he is an author and nationally recognized speaker.
Kevin Broyles observed that “Carson Porter knows his way around both the courtroom and a boardroom. It is rare to find a person with a combination of Carson’s business experience and legal expertise. We are delighted that he has chosen to join our firm.”
Carson has been involved in virtually all aspects of the healthcare delivery system for several decades. As an attorney he has counseled numerous health care enterprises from start up to public offering. He has also gained experience as a healthcare CEO, which provides him with a unique perspective on the client’s challenges. In addition, Carson was a Founding Director of the National Patient Safety Foundation where he served in various capacities for ten years. Michael Cone noted that “with the changes in the delivery and regulation of our ever-expanding healthcare system, it takes a team of knowledgeable professionals to keep informed. FisherBroyles has assembled that team and Carson is a key member of it.”

Jack Wuerker
Jack Wuerker, FisherBroyles partnerJack’s practice focuses on commercial litigation and estate litigation but has also included general representation of companies involved in government contracting, information technology, mortgage banking, finance, and real estate development.
Jack has nearly 40 years of civil trial experience, with particular emphasis on complex commercial litigation, complex estate challenges, business disputes, valuation issues, contract disputes, business torts and legal malpractice. He has tried approximately 30 cases to verdict (both bench trials and jury trials) and has disposed of hundreds of cases prior to trial as a result of summary disposition or settlement. He also has extensive mediation experience, having acted as the mediator for more than 100 matters over the past ten years and having used mediators to assist in the resolution of numerous cases.
Jack has also served as outside general counsel to several businesses, providing them with advice on matters such as formation, governance, capitalization, financing, licensing, contract negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, dispositions, human resources and real estate transactions.
