Job Title: Constituent Engagement Officer

Division: Development

Reports to: Director of Development

Summary

King seeks a Constituent Engagement Officer to be responsible for the administration of a comprehensive constituent relations program at King School. This position is highly strategic and needs to focus on a comprehensive program that delivers measurable results in building engagement with all constituencies in the life of the school. This full time leadership position reports to and receives administrative direction from the Director of Development, assists the Head of School and board members in development related activities when assigned, and works with all members of the development team and volunteers. The Constituent Engagement Officer manages two direct reports: The Events Manager and Development Services Manager. Additionally, this position will drive the planned giving program including recognition and solicitation.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Develops and spearheads, in conjunction with the other development team personnel, a coordinated and comprehensive constituent relations program for the King family focusing closely on trustees, parents, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, leadership donors and friends of King.

Following fundraising trends and new opportunities, s/he will analyze, recommend and implement new engagement and fundraising initiatives for growth.

Ensuring that some recognition/cultivation activity is taking place for each constituency, the goal is to broaden and deepen the base of involvement at King. These activities should strategically engage a wide variety of constituencies, and provide tangible benefits to King.

Working closely with the Director of Development and Leadership Giving Officer to identity, research and cultivate prospects within all constituency groups for major and planned gifts.

Maintains a major gifts portfolio of 25 to 50 prospects.

Collaborates to determine the best strategies for effective stewardship of donors.

Oversees the Events Manager and directs him/her to plan and execute events that promote the connection of individuals to King as well as with the broader King network.

Oversees the Development Services Manager and directs him/her to conduct research that support constituent engagement, updated contact information, database integrity and accurate reporting and communications.

Cultivates and maintain strong mutually rewarding relationships with parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and other constituents.

Strategically proposes communication initiatives to keep the King community inspired and informed, and provide strategic direction on marketing communications targeted at deepening constituents' connection to and understanding of the school.

Uses marketing and communications resources to strategically cultivates and position prospects within the community.

Serve as the Development Department liaison with the Parents Association and Alumni body.

Provides strategic direction for Grandparent involvement.

Keeping the spirit of King alive and strong within the King community, securing commitments from stakeholders to provide professional expertise and volunteer service is a programming priority.

Personally visits and manages visits by school leaders with constituents across the country to establish and maintain contact.

Planned Giving:

identifies and contacts planned giving prospects

offers educational opportunities and materials regarding planned giving for prospects/donors

starts and manages a branded planned giving program

provides stewardship of donors who have already announced a commitment to planned giving

helps write marketing materials and communications for the planned giving program

Assists in the development of the comprehensive development plan and insure that identified goals and strategies are effectively and efficiently accomplished.

Write, implement, monitor and evaluate an annual workplan to include at least 4-5 major goals, measurable objectives and methods to evaluate outcomes as related to constituent engagement at King.

Skills

The position requires an aggressive and focused professional attitude. He or she must have exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written, communication, skills and display a collaborative, team-oriented work style. A high degree of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality, is required. Strong management and organizational skills are a must. Travel, including overnights, is a component of this position.

Candidate should demonstrate a consistent commitment to the Mission of King School.

A Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience within an Independent School or Nonprofit is preferred.

Must be available to frequently work nights, weekends, and to travel.

Must have sufficient knowledge of all digital engagement tools, i.e. social media

Must have at least 10 years professional experience in working in an externally facing role, preferably in development.

At least 5 years of supervisory experience required.

Experience with Blackbaud is preferred.
