May 6, 2014 National Giving Day with Local Impact Expected to Transform Grassroots Philanthropy

AUSTIN, TX (March 4, 2014) – Kimbia, the industry leader in online giving days on whose fundraising platform individual organizations have raised up to $25.2M in one day and recruited from 20-60% new donors, announced today that they will donate $100K in a prize pool for Give Local America. Give Local America was conceived and launched in celebration of the 100th anniversary of community foundations in America and the vital role they have played developing and supporting local philanthropy. Give Local America, a first-of-its kind Giving Day, will be hosted on May 6, 2014, in over a hundred communities and cities across the nation. A centralized leader board will provide real-time visibility to event results throughout the day. The prize pool will be used specifically to incentivize new donor participation – which along with increased brand awareness is one of the two key Giving Day value propositions reported by the company’s customers.

The most successful events start to generate buzz and publicity early and because this is grassroots philanthropy, social media will be a major driver of results. Give Local America has organized a social media day for March 6th, 2014, to build the public awareness needed to attract new and returning donors alike. Interested parties can participate and track results via #GiveLocalAmerica.

“The Community Foundation of St. Clair County is excited to be participating in Give Local America,” said Lynn Alexander, vice president, Community Foundation for St. Clair County (MI). “Branded locally as Give Where You Live, this is our third giving day event, and we’re inviting all nonprofit organizations in the area to participate in this great national event to raise as much awareness and financial support for our mission as possible.”

“We are excited about the ability of this national event to enable everyone to become a philanthropist, to bring communities together, and for nonprofits of all sizes all across the United States to benefit from increased media exposure,” said Dan Gillett, CEO, Kimbia. “We encourage everyone to participate and to track nationwide results as the excitement builds and the numbers roll to success.”
