IT is that time of year again when Rathmore welcomes 14 children and their two interpreters, Natasha and Zenia, from Belarus to the parish.

They arrived on Friday and are being hosted by very kind and generous host families for the duration of their stay which will finish on Thursday, July 23.

You will get an opportunity to meet them as they will be participating in Masses in our four churches this weekend – 6.00pm on Rahmore on Saturday, 7.30pm in Gneeveguilla on Saturday, 9.00am in Shrone on Sunday and at 11.00am in Knocknagree on Sunday,

To coincide with their visit there will be a fundraising cake sale after 6.00pm Mass in Rathmore.

Camp: Ógras, the oldest Irish language youth organisation, will run a summer camp at Gneeveguilla GAA Hall from July 13-17 to encourage young people, aged from seven to 14, to practice their Irish in a fun environment.

The camp will run from 10am to 2.30pm with a trip on the Thursday. Participants will engage in a wide range of activities, including conversational practice, hurling, football, soccer, basketball, hockey, volleyball, badminton, tennis, drama, music, table quiz and art.

The cost is €50 for first participant and €45 for second and subsequent participants. €30 deposit secures a place. Further details from Risteárd Ó Fuaráin on 087-2194992, mumhan@ogras.ie or on www.ogras.ie.

Choir: Thanks to all involved in the Gneeveguilla Youth Choir, for enhancing and enriching the liturgies since their foundation many months ago. With schools on holidays at the moment, the choir is taking a well-earned rest and will resume again when the schools re-open.

Many thanks to their parents for all the encouragement and help.

Collection: There will be a second collection at all Masses next weekend 4/5 July for sick and retired priests. We appreciate those parishioners who have direct debits set up and all who continue to be very generous.

This collection supports our sick and retired priests both with medical care and living expenses. Thanks once again for your generous support.

The Gneeveguilla National School Night at the Dogs took place at the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium, Tralee. This fundraising event proved to be a highly entertaining and successful night out for all ages with plenty of bets being placed, bouncy castle and face painting for the kids and a raffle thrown in for good luck.

A huge thank you to all sponsors, to all who attended and those who supported but could not attend.

Finally a special thank you to Siobhan Jones (chairperson) and the members of the parents’ committee for organising this event which was enjoyed by all.

Benefit: The Friends of Kerry General Hospital benefit meeting at Kingdom Greyhound Tralee will take place this Friday, July 3.

There will an auction on the night for a signed pair of Colm Cooper’s football boots, two tickets too either the All-Ireland hurling or football final and a greyhound pup.
