Home: the new KRFC base at Aghadoe

Killarney RFC News
Compiled by Liam Murphy

KILLARNEY Rugby Football Club’s organising committee held a meeting last Wednesday to commence the planning of our forthcoming family day. It will take place on Sunday, September 6, between 1pm and 5pm, at our new pitch at Caher, Aghadoe.

The event will allow us to showcase our club at its very best, in our new home. After initially agreeing to purchase the 14-acre site in 2010 and finalising the deal in 2012, it will be a great opportunity for the general public of Killarney to visit us and have fun.

We are hosting a barbeque, bouncy castles and a myriad of fun family games as well as a display by our mini rugby squads. The family day will be a great day of fun an excitement.

Keep posted to our Facebook page and our club webpage for further details.

Seniors: Our senior squad is training each Friday evening at 7.15pm and new players are always welcome. Our senior squad will be playing their first match at home against Newbridge RFC in a preseason friendly on August 15.

This will be a truly historic date for the club as this will be our very first game at our new grounds and we are looking forward to hosting Newbridge for the weekend.

All are welcome to come along to support the lads. Killarney RFC are hosting the Moss Keane Blitz on August 29, which will see all of the Kerry senior squads involved.

Membership: Membership subs are now due ahead of the new season and can be paid through the very handy online facility at www.myclubfinances.ie or the membership link on our website www.krfc.club. There are various options available on this page and we would encourage everyone to help the club by paying their membership as soon as possible.

Minis: The minis section will be back training from Saturday, August 29. We will be training in our new pitch at Aghadoe. After many years of training at Knockreer and playing and hosting blitzes at Knockreer, it will be amazing to finally have a home to call our own.

Mini rugby in Killarney is, without a doubt, the success story of underage rugby in Kerry. There is a great tradition of strong coaching helping develop the basics as well as the skills required to compete and enjoy rugby at all levels. This can start from the age of five.

Rugby is a game for all abilities and no better pace to learn, have fun and develop the basic skills, than at Killarney RFC. For details, contact Tom Campbell on 087-2657994
