THE Scoil Phobail Sliabh Luachra class of 1995 will hold a 20-year reunion for students, including those who repeated years or left the school midway through, on Saturday, November 21 in the Brehon Hotel, Killarney at 8.30pm. An area is reserved in the lower bar and it promises to be a great night.

Anyone wishing to attend should get in touch as soon as possible so that organisers can confirm numbers. Novena: A Divine Mercy Novena takes place first Friday every month at 8.00pm in the Nun’s Choir Rathmore Church.

Lotto: Well done to Sean Kissane, Tralee who won the Gneegebuilla GAA lotto jackpot of €12,600. The GAA bucket collection will be on November 29 in Killarney. Volunteers are needed. The Gneeveguilla AGM is fixed for Friday, November 20.

Feile: A revival of the spirit of Sliabh Luachra with music, song and dance in Knocknagree and Tureencahill this Saturday and Sunday.

Kenya: Donations made to Knocknagree Kenya Fund Credit Union account for past six months came to €850.

Deaths: Sympathy is extended to Brenda Moynihan and family, Beheenaugh, on the death her father Paddy O’Sullivan, Killarney; to John Horgan, Knocknageeha on the death of his brother Con and to the family of Eileen Moynihan, Ard Mhuire, Rathmore. May they all rest in peace.

The annual Sean Moylan Commemoration will be on Sunday next in Kiskeam. There will be Mass in Church of Sacred Heart at 12 noon followed by a parade and an oration by Micheal Ó Muircheartaigh

Celebration: Rathmore/Gneeveguilla Gun Club would like to thank everyone who attended the annual November 1 celebrations and helped to raise €530 for the four churches’ restoration fund. They are very grateful to all the landowners who they rely on for their continued support. A big thanks also to all the local businesses who donated prizes.

Football: Rathmore senior ladies finished the year on a winning note when capturing the Mary Jo Curran A final in Listry against Southern Gaels.

Despite being down six points pts at halfttime Rathmore dominated the second half, showing great skill and determination to win in an exciting finish on a scoreline of Rathmore 0-14s Southern Gael 3-4.

The under 15 A final, Rathmore v Laune Rangers,will be played next weekend at a venue to be confirmed.

Council: Rathmore Community Council’s AGM will take place on Wednesday, November 18at 8.30pm at the community centre Everybody welcome.

Basketball: The Gneeveguilla girls’ under 12 beat TK Bobcats 38- 19. Great defending from Ciara Hickey and Caoimhe Guerin-Crowley set the scene for this win. All members of the Gneeveguilla side netted baskets and Delia Foley and Roisín Brosnan were particularly on fire. These scores were set up with great passes from Katelyn O’Leary and Emma McGillycuddy and rebounding from Roisin Collins and Aislinn Adair Byrne.

The under 12 boys had a 40-19 win against St Marys. Ross O’Leary scored an impressive 13 points, all in the first quarter.

Sean Hurley put in a solid performance scoring 10 points for Gneeveguilla. John Cronin and Stephen Dalton defended excellently in what was a solid team performance.

In the girls’ under 14 division one tie, Gneeveguilla lost 32-40 to Glenbeigh. After a superb defensive display and excellent shooting by Ciarrai Jones and Hannorah Hurley, Gneeveguilla led in the first quarter 9-1. However showing great character, Glenbeigh, led by the dominant Eimear Burke, managed to reduce the gap and overtook Gneeveguilla in the third quarter.

In the boys’ under 14 division three, it finished Gneeveguilla 43 Kenmare Kestrals 37. Brogan McCarthy and Ciaran Cremin were very accurate in the first quarter with Liam Brosnan continuing to show scoring form.

The under 14 division one side beat St Annes 40-35 with great play from Ronan Collins, Paudie O’Leary, Damien O’Halloran and Paraic Finnegan.
