The football coaches of the Class 3A – District # 7 have announced their All – District Team selections, Mount Pleasant High School had 3 first team selections:
Carson Remick, Justin Dilks and Ben Canby.
A reminder the Mt. Pleasant High School girls basketball game that was scheduled for night in Panther Gym has been moved to January 11th at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids at 6:15 p.m. Another schedule change has Mt. Pleasant girls playing host to Williamsburg Monday December 2nd in Panther Gym instead of January 6th. KILJ will broadcast Monday night beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night we will broadcast the MPHS boy’s season opener at home against Cedar Rapids Xavier, Friday night the MPHS boys at Fairfield and Saturday night the MPHS boys play at Iowa City City High.
The Iowa Hawkeye men’s basketball team remains undefeated after pulling out a 77-74 overtime win over Xavier in the Battle for Atlantis Tournament in the Bahamas. The Hawks play UTEP at 5 p.m. tonight in round 2. Kansas and Villanova meet in the other semi.
The Iowa women beat Southern Cal 78-65 in the Cancun Classic Thursday and now play Boston College at 5 p.m. today.
The Pzazz Classic Men’s Basketball tournament is being hosted by Southeastern Community college today and tomorrow. At 5 p.m. tonight Northeast Nebraska plays Lincoln, followed by the SCC Blackhawks playing Mineral Area.
The Winfield Mt. Union JV and Varsity boys basketball teams are going to be doing a Hall of Pride scrimmage event Friday November 30th against West Burlington, after the WMU girl’s game with West Liberty, they are planning for a 6 p.m. start for the boy’s action.
Hall of Pride scrimmage games are allowed by the Iowa High School Athletic Association if it is tied in with a community service project and does not count on the team’s season record.
Regular admission will be charged for the girl’s game. Admission to the scrimmage will be a free will donation or non perishable food item for the MOPS food pantry. The free will donations will help cover a $250 donation that is required to be given to the Hall of Pride in Des Moines, any extra monetary donations will go to the food pantry. The community service project tied to the event will be WMU High School instrumental and vocal music students along with the girls and boys basketball teams will go to Sunrise Terrace Care Center to entertain and interact with the residents with a meal and games.
The Iowa High School State Wrestling Championships have been a sold out event for over 20 years and is the only Iowa High School Athletic Association reserved ticket event.
Ticket sales for the state meet to IHSAA member high schools who host wrestling programs will begin Monday, December 2, 2013 at 10:00am and close Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 11:59pm.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 10:00am. The public will be able to purchase tickets at the Iowa Events Center ticket office, any Dahl’s store, online at www.dahlstickets.com . The order limit will be eight (8) tickets.
The ticket price is $8.00 per ticket, plus a convenience fee of $1.75 per ticket. There will be a $4.00 handling fee per order. A valid credit card will be needed to make an online purchase. The Iowa Events Center seating chart will be available identifying class 1A, 2A, and 3A mats. All seats will be assigned in the order the transactions are processed either at a ticketing location or online.
The 4th Annual Fort Madison Day at Carver Hawkeye Arena is set for Sunday, December 22, 2013. Iowa takes on Arkansas – Pine Bluff.
The Fort Madison Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Club has worked with University of Iowa Athletics to secure premium seating for our group. On Thursday, November 14th at 7:00 AM, tickets go on sale at the Partners offices located at 614 9th Street, Fort Madison.
The first 150 children’s tickets will be available for $5 each (ages 18 and under). The first 150 adult tickets will be available for $10 each.
