I have been a makeup dependent for years and it’s something I really enjoyed doing. Makeup is magical; it’s like my fairy Godmother in the modern time. However, we all must admit that negligence to the things we put on our face can be harmful for our skin. It can cause allergy, and really bad breakouts.
What’s really the point of putting makeup if it’ll damage our skin, right?
So the question here is, can we really have the best of both Worlds? Could we really have something that could prettify us instantly and can be beneficial for our skin in a long-run?
Happy Skin might be the answer to our prayers, girls! I’m sure you’ve heard about this new, sort-of-high-end local brand called Happy Skin (the ingredient and the products are made in Japan). It is the newest makeup line that offers skin-loving makeup. Their mission? To create makeup that truly cares for skin. It’s like wearing skincare for makeup.
However, although this is a local brand, the price is a bit up there. You really have to spend more, well, like an investment. It may appear a bit pricey at first but after a while, you’ll realize that it may be worth it. I always think it’s better to spend on something that can be beneficial in long-term rather than on something that can only satisfy you in a short-while.
The Happy skin product line offers fairly small range of products – liquid foundation, powder foundation, concealer, blush, lip products, eyeliner and brush sets. Although it’s relatively small, I personally think that these products are just enough to already make anyone look extra-fabulous.
Among all the products that they are offering, I’ve tried four and here is what I think about these products!
HAPPY SKIN SECOND SKIN CRÈME SILICON FREE FOUNDATION
Price: Php 1,199
Available in 2 shades.
My shade is 02 Natural Beige.

This has got to be my favorite product in this line. I see other people not caring for this product as the coverage is very sheer; however, I like my makeup to be that way. I want it light and natural-looking! The name of this product says it all! It’s like my second skin, only better since it looks even-toned and more glowing. It has an SPF 20 PA++ to provide enough skin protection under the sun. This is a silicone-free foundation that won’t clog pores and infused with world-famous Japanses Cherry Blossom extract and hyaluronic acid to plump and smooth out skin.
I find this product a bit hard to blend as it dries quickly on skin. I recommend to use this over a primer or moisturizer for easy blending. I like to use my Moonkini flat top brush (longer) with this. The finish is just so natural and matte. It has a nice powder finish, thus, can be use alone.
DON’T GET MAD, GET EVEN HYDRATING POWDER FOUNDATION

After a long rest with powder foundation, I’m glad that Happy skin is my first come-back product for powder foundation. It’s natural looking, and great foundation to minimize the appearance of pores! Since I don’t have many blemishes to cover, I couldn’t attest on how well the coverage of this product. However, it does a great job in covering imperfections on my face such as acne marks.
This powder foundation is crafted with Japanese tea extract to soothe redness and is infused with SPF 20PA++.
The foundation shade is very close to my natural skin shade (NC30, for your reference), thus, appear very natural-looking when worn. It doesn’t look fake, no white cast on my face and shade looks even with my neck.
Although, applying too much layer on skin will make it appear thick and cakey. I recommend you to apply moisturizer or primer underneath.
Staying power is quite decent, it helps control oil and brightens up skin.
THE SHUT UP AND KISS ME MOISTURIZING LIPPIE

Available in 6 shades.

Finally, a local version of Clinique Chubby stick! Compared to brands that offer the same kind of lip product, Shut up and Kiss Me lippie has a very reasonable price. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain is priced at Php 575 and I’m sure Clinique Chubby Stick is way pricier.
The shade I have is in Summer Fling, which is a gorgeous coral-pink color.
This product offers three-fold lip services: the shine of a gloss, the pigment of a lipstick and hydration of a balm! It is loaded with Shea Butter and Collagen to keep my lips in lip-lockin’ shape!
My lips are very chappy, and this product is such a life-saver. Imagine, adding color to my tired-looking face and moisturizing it at the same time. It has crème finish and feels very nice on my lips!
Although it’s a moisturizing lipstick, the color payoff is still great!
The pointed shape of this lip product makes the application a lot easier and precise, too! However, I don’t like the idea of the product sticking out of the container since putting the cap back to its place is just so not convenient especially when my hurry-mode is ON.
I really love this product and it's one my favorite lip products to date! I will definitely love to try more shades from Happy Skin Shut Up and Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippies!
GET CHEEKY WITH ME
Price: Php 699
Available in 2 shades: Summer Fling and First Kiss. The shade I have is in Summer Fling.

Summer Fling is another corally blush that looks gorgeous with my Summer Fling Lippie. It’s probably the least favorite product among the 4 I have just because I have tons of other blushes and I think this works just the same as the others. The price is a bit high at Php 699.
This blush is infused with Cherry Blossom extracts that locks in moisture and keeps cheeks fresh and hydrated.
It’s not really smear-proof or waterproof as claimed. However, the staying power is good for a powder blush.
The powder is soft and has the right amount of pigmentation! The color is very visible on my skintone, even with just one swipe. I like that I can still add another layer without making me look like a clown for a birthday party. The shade looks natural, and very gorgeous especially on summer!
OVERALL
Overall, I like the products that I were able to try. I would definitely recommend these for those girl who like to invest in good quality and skin friendly makeup. The Shut-Up and Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippie is perfect for those girls who are having trouble with their chappy lips. The price is reasonable and has 6 nice shades to choose from.
I would love to try Don’t Get Made, Get Even Hydrating Liquid foundation in the future but for now, I’m happily contented with Second Skin Crème Silicone Free foundation.
