Our Story

Last time, with 10 students over a six-week period, we increased their driver club head speed an average of 9 mph! That’s 27 additional yards on a driver! It’s all documented and was written up in the NY Times! If you are in need of some distance, we are doing it again!

A number of years ago, I kept hearing club fitters say, “the average golfers speed is what it is. It’s not going to change, so fit them for their swing.” I didn’t buy this. I thought if a golfer was really interested in changing, they could!

I enlisted Steve Heller, the Director of Fitness at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa to join me. I wanted an independent club tester, so I called Hot Stix Golf. We brought our 10 participants (7 men, 2 women and a junior) in and tested them with their driver. They saw Steve (pictured in purple) twice a week for his Foremax Golf Fitness program. They saw me once a week in small groups. It was really quite easy.

We brought them back to Hot Stix Golf and tested them with their driver. Their fitters were astounded! They asked, “what did you do?” One of the fellows gained 20mph! He ended up doing the Speedstik infomercial with me. This time around we are doing out own testing with BJ Gray (black shirt), our expert fitter with ProFit.

Meet the Team

ProFIT Golf

ProFIT Golf is managed by our master club fitter BJ Gray. BJ has over 15 years experience custom fitting all of the major manufacturers. He has worked with a wide variety of golfers from beginners to professional golfers and professional athletes. BJ has numerous accomplishments in the industry including: Ping Regional Fitter of the Year (2006 & 2013), Titleist top 100 club fitters and Mizuno top 100 club fitters. BJ’s expertise will allow you to be precisely fitted by his understanding and interpretation of the stats produced by our Flight Scope launch monitor during your fitting.

ProFIT Assessment

Before: We will utilize the technology of our doppler radar based Flight Scope launch monitor to check club head speed, ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, and accuracy. Your stats will be recorded and sent to the rest of our team.

After: After your instruction and Fore-Max workouts are complete, we will again test all of the stats we did before you started. We will find out how much faster you swing the club, how much further you hit the ball, and how much more accurate you are! We will also check your driver to make sure it “fits” your new swing.

FORE-MAX

FORE-MAX

Steve Heller, Internationally recognized Fitness Director for The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, is the creator of the FORE-MAX training system. Over the last 15 years Steve has put together thousands of golf specific workout protocols for players of all ages and ability levels.  From amateur to professional athletes, the PGA, LPGA, NFL, NBA, and MLB have all utilized Steve Heller for his vast knowledge of exercise physiology in relation to sports specific training and conditioning.  Steve has had the pleasure of working with a number of notable golf professionals: Ricky Barnes, Kevin Streelman, Miller Barber, Bo Van Pelt, Matt Jones, Matt Kuchar, Paige Mackenzie, Pat Hurst, Grace Park and Jimin Kang.

The goal with this component of the performance package has to do with taking the physical side of golf and matching the results found during your instructional club fitting component.  Coming out of the Fore-Max portion of The Kierland Performance Package, students will have a complete flexibility and strength exercise program based off this physical assessment, as well as exercises and stretches to do before you play. Steve also instructs on how to prevent some of the most common golf associated injuries.  This component of our Performance Package will help golfer’s on the course, but more importantly in the functioning of their daily life. Steve’s golf knowledge, coupled with his exercise physiology background, enables him to conduct your physical golf assessment and prescribe workout protocols that will go through all of your daily golf workout programs.

Within a short amount of time, individuals participating in the Fore-Max program in conjunction with the other components of The Kierland Performance Package will see a dramatic change in the following: increased driving distance due to increased body strength, increased body stamina leading to consistency on the course, improvement in overall swing mechanics due to better rotational capabilities and posture as well as increased flexibility which leads to a more fluid golf swing, injury prevention and rehabilitation.
