LEGO is no longer a toy just for kids. It’s been around for many years, and hasn’t changed much since their creation. In fact, a brick bought today will still connect with one of the first LEGO bricks ever made!
As the years have passed and more people have enjoyed dabbling with LEGO builds, many have discovered that they can be true LEGO architects. They’ve even created the most amazing, largest, stunning and immaculate creations of art simply by using LEGO bricks.
With so many creations made over the years, we decided to finally list the top 101 greatest LEGO builds of all time.

Many of the most impressive LEGO creations are buildings. Some are small, while others are life size. Here are the top 20 LEGO buildings of the world.
Empire State Building with King Kong
This impressive piece includes all the details needed to make it completely recogni
sable as one of New York City’s most popular buildings. The presence of King Kong on the side of the building also adds a nice touch!
Victorian house on mud heap
This Victorian-style building almost looks haunted in its setting amongst the rubble of LEGO. The detail involved is what makes this piece so spectacular, and adds a spooky edge.
Kennedy Space Centre
Over 2,500 hours went into building this replica of the Kennedy Space Centre.
Fun fact: if you want to build this in your own backyard, you will need approximately 750,000 LEGO bricks.
The Royal Wedding at Buckingham Palace
Accuracy is everything, and this stunning representation of Buckingham Palace, complete with wedding guests, is definitely a sight everyone will know and love (and for those who don’t know, this is the wedding of LEGO Prince William and LEGO Kate!).
LEGO Church
amazing church. It can seat 1,372 LEGO people, and even includes restrooms, mosaics, pulpit, an altar, a baptistery, and 3,976 windows.
Beijing National Stadium
Nicknamed the “Bird Nest” stadium, this build is around 3 metres by 8 metres in size. It’s estimated that approximately 300,000 LEGO bricks were used to create this masterpiece.
Dome of the Rock
This famous building in Jerusalem has been rebuilt in LEGO form. It’s beautifully detailed, right down to the colours and exterior patterns.
Cologne Cathedral
Cologne Cathedral is situated in Germany. It is spectacular in reality, but a whole new level of awe is the response to seeing the LEGO version.

This stadium is an exact replica of the real-life Allianz Stadium. The blueprints of the original stadium were used to build this LEGO version, and LEGO even made special translucent bricks to build it due to the changing colours of the exterior of the original building.
St Pancras International Station, London
If you have 18 months and over 150,000 LEGO bricks to spare, you may be able to complete a replica version of a famous London train station, too. This work has immense detail, right down to the LEGO people enjoying a light meal at a cafe.
The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris
The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, commonly known as Sacré-Cœur Basilica and often simply Sacré-Cœur, is an infamous Roman Catholic church in Paris, France. And this LEGO design is a perfect rendition of the original building.

Futurama has become one of the most popular TV shows thanks to the creators of The Simpsons. This model of the Planet Express looks just like the real deal.
The Simpsons Home
LEGO must love The Simpsons as much as we do. They have released a LEGO version of The Simpsons’ home which you can build yourself. It comes complete with characters from the famous show.

Art is not going to stop LEGO lovers from being inspired. In fact, some of our favourite LEGO creations of all are based on famous art pieces of years gone by.
Relativity by M.C Escher
This artwork was confusing just as painting, and how it was built using LEGO actually boggles the mind! A Star Wars version was also created, which really tugged at our geek-strings!
The Scream by Edvard Munch
A lot of people are familiar with the classic “The Scream”. We absolutely love this LEGO take on such a classic artwork.
Roy Lichtenstein's Kiss V 1969
Not all artworks have to be 3D to be fascinating. This piece is based on a classic pop art piece, and used over 20,000 LEGO bricks to create.
Mondrian’s Composition II in Red, Blue, and Yellow
This piece is incredibly simple, and almost everyone could re-create it themselves. The simplicity doesn’t take away how great this piece is, however.

Details aren’t even required in order to see what this image represents. Although quite different to the original, it definitely utilises the strengths of LEGO to create it.

The famous photograph of 1932 by photographer Charles Ebbets has been re-created using LEGO men. Not a lot of work went into creating this image, but it’s definitely worthy of a mention.

The giant four-legged mammals of Dali’s famous artwork were re-created by Korean LEGO artist Jin Kei. He added his own steampunk influence to the original work, making a very impressive LEGO piece.

Great white shark
This shark is actually life size. It’s impressive size and structure definitely fit in when it was on display at Sydney Aquarium.
Panda
Pandas are adorable in real life, but a LEGO version is mind-blowingly cute. And LEGO panda eating LEGO bamboo is just fantastic.
Owl
Originally designed to teach kids and adults more about birds, this Owl was forwarded to LEGO for them to create and sell as a standalone pack.
Giraffe
When LEGO is built into animals and it’s to scale, it makes it even more impressive. This giraffe was a life-size LEGO build of the real deal, and was situated outside of one of LEGO’s buildings.
Dragon
This dragon can be found at Disneyland outside the LEGO store. It’s astounding to think of how many bricks were needed for such an incredible design.
Tiger
This tiger is also a scale model. We think the way it’s shaped is amazing, considering it was built with rectangular and square bricks.

Just the aircrafts would have taken hours to complete, and this aircraft carrier is finely detailed on a mass scale.
Cruise Ship
This cruise ship is built to scale, and includes all the exterior features one would expect on a real cruise ship. The large scale of this ship makes for a very heavy build.

This Volvo was created and situated at Legoland for people to walk by and admire. It uses real tyres, and is the exact size of its real-life counterpart.

Although we had a Back to the Future set included in our movie list, we couldn’t resist adding this train design from the movie in our transportation category. A huge amount of detail went into completing it, including various control levers, pipes and wheels to steer the train.
Lego Bicycle
This all-green bicycle is the perfect pixelated build of a bike. Even more impressive are the cars that it is “riding” on as its road.
Hay Cart
We absolutely adore this horse cart carrying stacks of hay. The hay looks astounding and the little LEGO man looks a little worried, which only adds to how great this is.
Double-Decker Bus
The double-decker red buses are an iconic symbol of London, England. This simple build is still very detailed, and a great place to be for those LEGO tourists.
The Behemoth

Whether they be from video games or late night TV shows, there are many characters that have been the inspiration behind an artist's next piece.
Barack Obama
Barack Obama is a highly known person across the globe, and his work as President of the United States has not gone unnoticed. We are sure he is quite thrilled to have been immortalised in LEGO.
Freddie Mercury
Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of the band Queen, was well-known for his flamboyant and astounding performances on stage. This LEGO build of him wearing his iconic clothes items is truly a great homage to the man himself.
Adventure Time characters
Although based on a television series, the people and folks of Adventure Time are real characters. Seen here are Princess Bubblegum, Jake the dog, Finn the human and the Ice King.
Conan O’Brian
Late night television host Conan O’Brian has been created using LEGO. This life-size sculpture is easily recognisable, and the facial hair is a definite plus.

This was built for Vancouver Lego Club’s Mythology exhibit. We say it a lot, but attention to detail is everything. The amount of work that went into this piece is clearly visible thanks to the design.

Not only is the woman in this built in great detail, but the designer even went to great lengths to add the shadow of the build. The shadow is created with black LEGO bricks below the statue.
Luigi
This famous character from the Super Mario Bros. video game has not been left out. Luigi has been created in LEGO, and is reminiscent of the original game on Nintendo.
Crash Bandicoot
Another famous video game character is Crash Bandicoot. He may look “blocky”, but that didn’t stop the hours of fun we had as kids playing this game.

Worlds Largest Millennium Falcon
Celebrating International Star Wars day in Melbourne, Victoria, the largest Millennium Falcon was built. It’s almost five metres across, and has over 250,000 LEGO bricks.
Longest LEGO construction
The longest LEGO build was constructed in 2005 in Italy. It was built by adults and children, and is made up of nearly 3 million bricks.
World’s Tallest LEGO Tower
The world’s tallest LEGO tower stood at a towering height of 34.76 metres tall. It was constructed in Budapest, Hungary, and took the record in May of 2014.
Longest LEGO snake
The longest LEGO snake measures 318 metres long, and is situated at Legoland Malaysia. It was constructed to mark the first Chinese New Year for the park.
LEGO model with the most pieces
This model is of an X-Wing Fighter, an iconic ship from Star Wars. It has been constructed with around 5.3 million bricks, and took a team of 32 people a full year to complete it.
Largest LEGO image
The Cowley St. Laurence Church of England Primary School and Children’s Centre in Hillingdon, Greater London, has a facade built of LEGO. It’s around 40 metres long, and was constructed by adults and children.
Largest LEGO ship
The largest LEGO ship built by a single person is the USS Intrepid. It’s around 7 metres long and was built by Ed Diment.
Largest LEGO bridge
A 39.32 metre long bridge was constructed out of LEGO by David Tidman of the Western Australian Brick Society in 2013. The support towers of the bridge were 2.95 metres tall.
Longest LEGO chain
The longest LEGO chain was built by families in California, USA. Approximately 447 local residents built the chain in just under seven hours. The total length was a staggering 902.51 metres long.
Most expensive LEGO brick
The most expensive LEGO brick was a 2x4 brick made from 25.65 g of 14K gold. One brick was sold online for an insane amount of $14,449.99
Best LEGO Creation Overall
The Lego House
Hands down, one of the best LEGO creations we have seen to date is the creation of the full size LEGO House. The house was built by BBC television presenter James May (who you may recognise from their popular TV show, Top Gear). James May posed the question “If you had enough bricks, could you build a house?” The answer to this was “yes!”.
The house was a 2-storey LEGO building, complete with a kitchen, working toilet and working shower. It had a bedroom upstairs, and everything (including the bed) was made of LEGO.
It took around 3.2 million LEGO bricks to build the house and it’s contents, which even included a LEGO cat named Fusker.
Everything, including the windows, were made of genuine LEGO parts. Skylights made of LEGO were installed in the roof to allow more light into the house. The windows used transparent pieces of LEGO to enable people to view outside, and a newspaper in the living room (made of LEGO) took a whole four hours to complete.
During filming of the build of the house, James May even spent a night sleeping on the - very uncomfortable - LEGO bed.
