Revilla filed a motion seeking a 3-hour furlough to attend daughter’s 18th birthday

He cited his obligation as a father to be present at the affair and the so-called Filipino family tradition as the motivation for filing the motion

This is the third time in four months that Revilla asked permission from the court to leave detention

MANILA, Philippines – Detained senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla never seems to run out of reasons to leave his detention cell at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame.

After he was allowed to leave detention for five separate days by the Sandiganbayan to undergo dental procedures merely ten days ago, Revilla has again filed for another 3-hour furlough so he can attend his daughter’s 18th birthday.

In a three-page motion submitted to the anti-graft court, Revilla asked to be allowed to leave the facility on October 24 from 7 pm to 10 pm.

“While he does not want to abuse this Honorable Court’s kindness and understanding, Senator Revilla is again constrained to request this Honorable Court’s permission, this time to attend the 18th birthday celebration of his daughter, Ma. Fraznel Loudette Bautista,” Revilla’s motion read.

The affair will be held at the Bellevue Hotel in Alabang, Muntinlupa City on Saturday.

Revilla cited his obligation as a father to be present at his daughter’s debut party, as well as the so-called Filipino family tradition as the motivation behind his request.

“As part of the family-oriented Filipino culture, during Loudette’s 18th birthday, her parents would present her to society as a young lady coming of age and formally turning into an adult,” Revilla said.

“It is a tradition which daughters and their families prepare for, look forward to, and treasure for the rest of their lives,” the senator added.

Earlier, Revilla was allowed to visit his dentist at Gan Advanced Osseointegration Center (GAOC) at The Residences, Greenbelt Center in Makati City on October 10, 12, 15, 17 and 19, all at 2 pm for some procedure.

Also last July 14, the actor-politician was allowed to visit his ailing father, Ramon Revilla Sr., at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City where the latter was confined after suffering from “metabolic encephalopathy secondary to dehydration and aspiration pneumonia.”

Revilla is currently detained at Camp Crame after being implicated in the alleged P10-B pork barrel scam. He is currently facing plunder and multiple counts of graft for allegedly pocketing P224-M in commissions and illegal kickbacks from transactions involving his PDAF with fake NGOs linked to alleged mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles.

Meanwhile, the Sandiganbayan is expected to rule on Revilla’s motion on Thursday, October 22.
