Nora Aunor, the most renowned Filipino actress in history, has once again added another feather to her cap; having been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in the recently concluded 2nd ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) held at the Borneo Convention Center, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.

The prestigious international award-giving body honored the “Superstar” with the award for the actress’ contribution in the film industry; not only in the Philippines but also in other countries belonging to the ASEAN. The Lifetime Achievement Award is given by the AIFFA to personalities who has broken international barriers in the course of their career.

Michelle Yeoh was the first personality to be given the Lifetime Achievement Award when she was honored with the same accolade during the inaugural of ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards.

Aunor’s illustrious career in film, television, stage and music, spanning over fifty-eight years,  garnered her record-setting awards from various organizations, institutions, and award-giving bodies for her body of work in film, televisions, music and theater.

Aunor is the most nominated and awarded actress in the Philippines with over 110 awards.

She has been nominated 17 times as best actress in the leading role in the FAMAS awards; making her the most nominated actress in that category.

She is also the only person in the FAMAS history to be nominated for fifteen straight years from the 1973 to 1987. Aunor also became the sixth personality to be named to the FAMAS Hall of Fame having earned the prestige to be among the greatest actors and actresses in Philippine cinema which includes Eddie Garcia, Charito Solis, Joseph Estrada, Fernando Poe, Jr. and Vilma Santos.

The “Superstar” is also the most nominated and awarded actress in the history of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) with a total of eight best actress awards. In addition, Aunor also holds the record for the most nominated actress of Gawad Urian totaling 18 nominations and winning seven of the awards for best actress.

“Ate Guy” is also the only personality to win Film Academy of the Philippines’ Best Actress Award for three straight years.

La Aunor also holds the most number of international nominations and awards for best actress.  She is the only Filipino Actress to have won awards in five different continents.

She has won the best actress award in the International Film Festival in 1995 (Africa), the best actress award in the First East Asia Film and Televesion Award in 1997 (Asia), and in 2013, the best actress award in the Asian Film Awards (Asia).

She also bagged the best actress award in the 31st Festival International du Film Indépendant de Bruxelles in 2004 (Europe), the best actress award in the Premio Della Critica Idipendiente in 2013 (Europe). Aunor also won in the 3rd Skahalin International Film Festival (Europe) and in the Asia Pacific Screen Award in 2013 (Australia) and from the Green Planet Movie Award (North America).

Nora Aunor was honored by the AIFFA together with asian action superstar Jackie Chan who was awarded with the ASEAN Inspiration Award in the same event.

Cherry Gil also won the Best Actress Award in the 2015 AIFFA for her role as an opera singer in he movie “Sonata.” Gil won over three other Filipinos, namely, Vivian Velez for “Bendor,” Babara Miguel for “Nuwebe,” Krystle Valentino for “Purok.”
