It is Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr who will benefit the most with the planned vice presidential bid of four aspirants from Bicol Region, said Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile.
“It’s all very obvious. The Bicolanos will have to decide which one they will have to support or they will be split, for sure. With that condition, Senator Marcos will have a distinct advantage,” Enrile told reporters, as shared in an article written by “NB” of GMA News.
The vice presidential aspirants from Bicol are Senator Francis Escudero from Sorsogon; Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo is from Naga; Senator Antonio Trillanes IV from Albay; while Senator Gregorio Honasan II, who is being wooed by the United Nationalist Alliance to be the running mate of Vice President Jejomar Binay, is also from Sorsogon. Meanwhile, Marcos is from Ilocos Norte.
Cradle of VP
Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto said the Bicol region is becoming a “cradle” of vice presidential candidates.
“Sa unang pagkakataon, mas maraming ‘vice presidentiable’ na magmumula sa Bicol sa taong ito kesa sa bagyo (For the first time, there are more vice presidential candidates than typhoons coming from Bicol this year),” said Recto noting that Bicol’s location as a typhoon belt.
Meanwhile, Sorsogon Representative Evelina Escudero, mother of Chiz, expressed happiness earlier as three of the vice presidential candidates might come from Sorsogon.
“Ako, I’m happy that many Bicolanos running for the vice presidency especially tatlo comes from Sorsogon. Si (Senator Gregorio) Honasan, and even Leni Robredo comes from Bulan, Sorsogon, ang mga Gerona. Ibig sabihin nun, uragon talaga ang mga Sorsoganons, ‘di ba (I’m happy that many Bicolanos are running for vice presidency, especially that three of them are from Sorsogon. Honasan and even Leni Robredo comes from Bulan, Sorsogon. That means Sosogonons are really good)?” Sorsogon representative stated.
