Armi Millare, UP Dharma Down lead vocalist, does a cover of ‘Tao’ with actor John Lloyd Cruz

‘Tao,’ originally by Sampaguita, is the original sound track of Erik Matti’s ‘Honor Thy Father’

The song won Best Song in the 2015 MMFF

MANILA – While the film Honor Thy Father has been involved in the controversy with the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival, UP Dharma Down lead vocalist Armi Millare shared on Facebook her cover of the film’s official sound track, ‘Tao’ with the film’s lead actor John Lloyd Cruz.

Millare can be seen singing while Cruz plays the guitar. The vocalist wrote a caption on her post that reads: “A little something from #honorthyfather family. Sa mga hindi pa nanonood, do it tomorrow! Haha. Enjoy!”

The song originally sung by Sampaguita won the Best Song award in the recent MMFF awards night. However, the Erik Matti film was disqualified from the Best Picture category by the MMFF executive committee for failing to disclose its participation in another local film festival.

In Xianne Arcangel’s article published in GMA News Online, the Honor Thy Father producers questioned why they were informed of the disqualification on December 26, just a day before the Awards Night.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Emerson Carlos, on the other hand, explained the MMFF executive committee has decided to disqualify the film because of the producers’ failure to inform the body of the film’s involvement in the Cinema One Originals Festival 2015.

The film’s producers argued they complied with all the requirements of the film fest. They questioned the timing and the process of the disqualification. They are currently considering filing a legal suit against the MMFF executive committee.

Honor Thy Father won five major awards in the MMFF including the Best Director for Erik Matti who was a no-show in the Awards Night.

A little something from the #honorthyfather family. Sa mga hindi pa nanonood, do it tomorrow! Haha. Enjoy! #tao #garyperez #sampaguita
